Miyawaki Sakura Reportedly Signing with Big Hit Entertainment Following IZ*ONE's Disbandment

IZ*ONE Sakura is said to be signing an exclusive contract with BTS's agency, Big Hit Entertainment following the girl group's disbandment in April. An official from the company has since responded to the news.

Mnet Announces IZ*ONE's Disbandment in April

On March 10, several sources stated that the project girl group, IZ*ONE, will be disbanding in April after they completed their activities. Shortly after, Mnet released an official statement, confirming the rumors. They said that Mnet and Swing Entertainment/Off the Record Entertainment have been in discussions with the respective agencies of the IZ*ONE members prior to the expiration of their contracts.

Mnet went on to announce that IZ*ONE will disband in April as scheduled. The project girl group only signed a 2.5-year contract and debuted in October 2018.

Miyawaki Sakura Reportedly Joining Big Hit Entertainment after IZ*ONE's Disbandment

On March 11, it was reported that IZ*ONE Sakura will be signing with Big Hit Entertainment, home to BTS and TXT. According to an exclusive report from Hankyung, the "La Vie en Rose" singer has decided to join the company following the completion of IZ*ONE's activities in April.

It is also said that her close friends are aware of this, and insiders believe that there's a possibility that IZ*ONE Sakura will accept Big Hit Entertainment's offer. Some sources also said that she could probably be a part of Big Hit's new girl group in partnership with Source Music, which is allegedly debuting this year.

BTS's management agency revealed last year that their new girl group will be composed of multi-national members, who were carefully chosen from auditions that were held in different cities across the globe in October last year. In response to the reports, an official from Big Hit Entertainment said that nothing has been decided yet.

Miyawaki Sakura's Debut as a Member of HKT48 and IZ*ONE

In July 2011, Miyawaki Sakura joined a Japanese idol group called HKT48 as a first-generation trainee. Within the group, she became part of a unit called Team H, together with 15 other trainees, in March 2012. In 2014, she was added to Team KIV and was given a position in AKB48 Team A. Since 2011, she has been competing with other trainees to be included in the lineup of trainees who will release songs in Japan.

In 2018, Sakura participated in Mnet's reality girl group survival show called "Produce 48." In the final episode of the program, she placed second and eventually became a member of the Korean-Japanese idol group, IZ*ONE.

Within the group, Miyawaki is one of the visuals, sub vocalists, and sub rappers. She is one of the three Japanese members of the project girl group, with the other two being Hitomi and Nako.

IZ*ONE debuted in October of the same year with an extended play entitled "Color*Iz." Since then, the 12-member girl group has been launching songs, albums, and Eps that were well-received globally. Tracks like "La Vie en Rose," "Secret Story of the Swan," "Fiesta," and "Violeta" are just some of their hits.
