SEVENTEEN Minyu was previously accused of alleged school bullying and sexual harassment. Regarding these issues, Pledis Entertainment has released a follow-up statement, revealing that Mingyu has met the accuser in person and has reached a settlement.
SEVENTEEN Mingyu Resolves Misunderstandings about his School Bullying Controversy
On March 12, Pledis Entertainment issued a lengthy follow-up statement concerning the school bullying accusations raised against the male idol. The company said that they have verified the facts with the person who made the post, in which they claimed that they attended the same school as SEVENTEEN Mingyu and experienced bullying from the singer.
Pledis added that through the discussions, SEVENTEEN Mingyu and the accuser were able to settle the misunderstandings and have concluded things well. The company then revealed that the person who accused Mingyu of school bullying had been going through rough things that are not connected to the SEVENTEEN member.
According to the accuser, the post they made was originally intended to let people know what they experienced in middle school. However, they ended up writing about kinds of stuff that happened in the school where Mingyu also went, and so the topic involving SEVENTEEN's rapper was included.
Pledis Entertainment went on to share that SEVENTEEN Mingyu did joke around with his male classmates. But, the artist said that they were not referring to a particular classmate at that time and they had no intention of bullying or hurting anyone. While proven innocent of school bullying, SEVENTEEN Mingyu still apologized to the accuser for causing them a hard time or making them feel uncomfortable through his words and actions. The accuser accepted his apology, and also made clear that they don't wish for the K-pop idol to halt his activities or leave the group.

Mingyu's agency further stated that before they released this official statement, they confirmed the content with the accuser first. The label then expressed their hope that the person who accused SEVENTEEN Mingyu of school bullying will no longer have any more arguments concerning the issue.
Finally, Pledis Entertainment shared that they have already reached out to the other accusers who are open to talk about the allegations they made against the idol. The company is also finding a way to contact the unknown accusers and confirm the facts with them. Further details will then be released at a later date.
SEVENTEEN Mingyu Accused of School Bullying + Takes a Break from Activities
On Feb. 22, a netizen posted in an online community in which they claimed that SEVENTEEN's rapper was part of an "iljin" group when he was still going to Burim Middle School. The accuser said that Mingyu was one of the students who would watch and laugh at her while they bully her. Another anonymous user accused the male idol of sexual harassment. They said that Mingyu made sexual jokes in the place where she was sitting.
Since then, Pledis Entertainment announced that while they do investigations about the issues, SEVENTEEN Mingyu will be temporarily taking a break from his activities.
