BLACKPINK Rosé Breaks Record of Highest First-Week Album Sales for Female Soloist with Her First-Day Sales

BLACKPINK Rosé has broken yet another record in terms of sales for Korean female soloists with her debut album "-R-"! This time, the "On the Ground" singer has achieved impressive first-day album sales.

BLACKPINK Rosé Surpasses Highest First-Week Album Sales for a Korean Female Soloist with First-Day Sales

On March 16, YG Entertainment released the physical albums for BLACKPINK Rosé's "-R-." At 2:20 p.m. KST on that day, the album already sold more than 50,000 copies, and then after an hour, the sales increased by more than 220,000 copies.

According to Hanteo Chart on March 17, Rosé's first single album "-R-" attained a total of 282,674 sales within only a day. The BLACKPINK member's debut album, thus, ranked first on Hanteo's daily album chart today.

BLACKPINK Rosé's first-day sales with "-R-" is almost twice the number of sales in a week of Korean female soloists. This only means that within a day Rosé has broken IU's record of the highest first-week sales with "Love Poem," which sold 147,856 copies.

Apart from breaking the record for the highest album sales in the first week, "-R-" has also set a new record for the highest first-day sales for Korean female soloists on Hanteo Chart. The previous record-holder was IU's "Love Poem," which sold 125,388 copies in a day.

Furthermore, BLACKPINK Rosé now has the highest album sales in one day for YG solo artists, surpassing WINNER Minho's "Take," which had 74,921 first-day sales. Rosé also now has the second-highest first-day sales for Korean female artists, bested by BLACKPINK's "The Album" which sold 589,310 copies in just 24 hours.

Hanteo Chart concluded that the final initial record for BLACKPINK Rosé's debut album is expected to further increase in the coming hours.

BLACKPINK Rosé Sets New 'K-pop Soloist' Record for the Highest Stock Pre-Orders with Debut Album

Previously, the "GONE" singer set a new record for the highest stock pre-orders with a debut album among the K-pop solo artists. On March 9, YG Entertainment revealed that Rosé's single album "-R-" had exceeded 400,000 copies in stock pre-orders on March 8. This means that this was achieved in only four days since pre-orders for the album opened on March 4. And so, this becomes the highest amount of stock pre-orders obtained by a female soloist in Korea.

On March 15, the BLACKPINK member gained more pre-orders, extending her record. According to YG Entertainment, Rosé's debut album had reached more than 500,000 stock pre-orders, which is the result of the combination of 404,318 CDs, 49,058 KiT versions, and 52,129 LPs.

In other news, the music video for Rosé's "On the Ground" has been officially announced as the most-viewed MV for a K-pop soloist. On March 16, YouTube stated that the "On the Ground" MV garnered 41.6 million views in one day, breaking the record set by PSY in 2013 with "Gentleman."

Additionally, Rosé's MV premiere for her solo track reached 1.2 million YouTube views, making it the most-viewed YouTube premiere for a solo artist's music video.
