K-pop insiders revealed some of the must-know information about K-pop idols and agencies!
On March 26, K-pop Insiders Dragon J, a Business Development Head at a Korean entertainment company, and In Ji Woong, a K-pop Choreography Director, sat down to expose some of the facts and events which happen among K-pop idols and companies.
In the video uploaded on YouTube Channel AYO with more than 175,000 subscribers, the two went from revealing the importance of visuals for a trainee, infrequent or delayed comebacks and debut, to discussing dating ban and background check of trainee idols.
Why Do Some K-pop Groups Under the Same Agency Get More Comebacks than Others? K-pop Insiders Explain Why
At the start of the video, a netizen asked about the importance of face size and visual to become a trainee, as her concern is her big head. The former idol trainer Ji Woong then answered that face size is not necessary, but companies build trainees based on the image they want them to portray, such as BLACKPINK Jennie, who attracts more female fans, and Dahyun, who have a beauty that captures male fans more.
As for the reason why some idols or groups don't have much comeback over a year, the author of "How to become a K-pop Star," Dragon J, exposed the logic behind it.
He said, "Honestly, the company always put the profit first. Supporting the other groups is more profitable for the company? Then they support that group first."
Dragon J also confessed a special case of why a comeback of a group may take longer, saying "When the group can't be trusted like they act spontaneously or they wouldn't follow the policy of the agency."
Ji Woong then supported that it takes extra effort and hard work for K-pop idols to make a comeback four times a year, that's why it is almost impossible.

K-pop Insiders Discussed Why Agencies Can't Debut New Trainees A.S.A.P
As a person working inside a Korean entertainment company, Dragon J revealed why trainees' debut is sometimes delayed. He explained that since training cost normally starts at 1 billion won per trainee, it is natural that K-pop agencies would rush to debut their trainees to cover the cost. However, since concepts and trends in the K-pop scene change over time, a girl group that is training for a sexy concept might halt their debut when a cute concept suddenly became popular.
Ji Woong then concluded, "Being an idol is pure luck."
K-pop Insiders Clarify Why they Impose Dating Bans
It has been huge speculation that Dispatch asked for permission to agency and idols first before revealing dating rumors, but the truth behind it is "No," says Dragon J-- adding that they could've prevented it before spreading.
Thus, for the question of "Why Idols can't date freely?" he explained that since idols gave up their teens to debut, they should be more careful of dating. This is where agencies would guide them or impose dating bans, to let them focus more on their future.
