From Epik High to EXO Baekhyun: HYPEBAE Picks Best K-pop Songs in 2021 So Far

In the past three months, numerous Korean acts such as Epik High, IZ*ONE, SHINee, IU, BLACKPINK Rosé, EXO Baekhyun, and more released albums and tracks. HYPEBAE, a premier ground for women's contemporary fashion and streetwear, has chosen 17 K-pop songs and albums, which they see as some of the best releases this 2021 so far.

HYPEBAE is the top online platform that focuses on up-to-date fashion and streetwear for women. It is an extension of HYPEBEAST, a leading online destination for men's modern clothing and editorials about fashion and culture, as well as current events.

On April 1, HYPEBAE published an article that is about the K-pop songs they gathered as some of the best tracks of 2021 so far.

HYPEBAE Says Releases by Epik High, IZ*ONE, SHINee, & Super Junior are Some of the Best 2021 K-pop Songs So Far

Among the K-pop groups that made a comeback this year, HYPEBAE selected Epik High, SHINee, Super Junior, and IZ*ONE as the acts who launched some of the best K-pop songs this 2021.

Epik High's "Rosario" featuring CL and Zico

"Rosario" is one of the title tracks of Epik High's new album "Epik High Is Here" (Part 1), the other one is titled "Based on a True Story."

HYPEBAE says that the song conveys a message to people praying for others' unhappiness and failure.

IZ*ONE's "D-D-DANCE"

Dropped on Jan. 26, "D-D-DANCE" is IZ*ONE's first release on the new fandom platform UNIVERSE. The track is about escaping from everyday boredom and dreaming of being free.

SHINee's "Don't Call Me"

"Don't Call Me" is the title track of SHINee's new album of the same name. The album is the group's first release after almost three years.

HYPEBAE described "Don't Call Me" as a song with a hip-hop beat. It also mentioned the music video that shows the four members "staging a series of dynamic dance moves."

Super Junior's "House Party"

On March 16, Super Junior returned to the K-pop scene with their tenth album entitled "The Renaissance." It contains the title track "House Party," which encourages the listeners to stay at home and gain strength through the ongoing pandemic.

Tracks by K-pop Soloists Are Also Included in HYPEBAE's List of Best 2021 K-pop Songs

HyunA's "I'm Not Cool"

HyunA made a comeback on Jan. 28 with a new mini-album titled "I'm Not Cool." The title track of the same name was written by the female soloist alongside PSY and DAWN. It talks about your expectations and wants from other people.

Chungha's "Bicycle"

"Bicycle" is Chungha's title track in her first full album "Querencia." In an interview with HYPEBAE, the signer said that the song represents her both as a person and the artist she dreams to become. "Bicycle" expresses the excitement of moving forward your own path.

BLACKPINK Rosé's "On The Ground"

March 12 marked Rosé's long-awaited solo debut. Her first solo track, "On The Ground," is about having the realization that what's important can be found within oneself. The song's music video is now the most-viewed solo debut MV in 24 hours.

IU's "LILAC"

IU's "LILAC" is one of the two title tracks of her new album of the same name, the other song is "Coin." HYPEBAE took note of the "LILAC" MV having several symbols that represent the various stages of the singer's career.

EXO Baekhyun's "Bambi"

Baekhyun made a comeback on March 30 with a new mini-album named "Bambi." The title track, also titled "Bambi," tells about a mature love story that has expressions used in fairytales.
