MAMAMOO members Wheein and Hwasa appeared on the Apr. 3 episode of the KBS variety show "Come Back Home." While on the show, host Yoo Jae Suk asked the two MAMAMOO members how they developed such a close bond. It was there where Hwasa revealed that she and Wheein attended the same middle school and were in the same class during their first year.

Wheein then revealed that the very first time she saw Hwasa, her initial thought was that she did not want to become close to her. Why? "Hwasa would sing in front of the lockers even when nobody asked her to sing. I was like, 'What on earth is she doing?'"

However, Wheein then revealed that the two become friends after Hwasa came up to Wheen in introduced herself. Hwasa had wanted to be friends with Wheein!

At Wheein's anecdote, Hwasa could not help but laugh! Hwasa then revealed that she had a strong desire to be a singer, and the reason she wanted to be friends with Wheein is that she is a great singer!

Hwasa said, "I thought to myself, 'I am going to conquer the world with my songs!' That is why I wanted to be friends with Wheein. She had an amazing voice."

As the two both dreamed of becoming singers, they formed a friendship. Soon, they became best friends and auditioned for numerous companies together to pursue their dreams of being idols.

In the end, the two were lucky to have both been accepted by RBW, where they both debuted as members of MAMAMOO!

MAMAMOO Hwasa and Wheein's Most Recent Activities

On Mar. 3, RBW announced that Hwasa had renewed her contract with the company. Wheein, on the other hand, is reported to still be in discussions with the company concerning her exclusive contract with RBW.

On Apr. 1, it was announced that Wheein would be released her debut mini-album, "Redd," on Apr. 13. On Apr. 5, RBW revealed the mini-album's tracklist, and it was confirmed that "Water Color" would serve as the mini-album's title track.

This is Wheein's first comeback as a soloist since her Sept. 4, 2019 release, "Soar."

Hwasa's most recent solo activity was as a member of the MBC variety show "How Do You Play?," where she joined the four-member super group Refund Sisters.

Alongside Hwasa are famous Korean singers Lee Hyori, Uhm Jung Hwa, and Jessi. The group debuted on Oct. 10 with the single "Don't Touch Me," which peaked at the top of the Gaon Digital Chart.

MAMAMOO released their tenth mini-album, "Travel," with the title track "AYA," on Nov. 3.

Prior to the release of "Travel," MAMAMOO dropped the pre-release single "Dingga," which peaked at number seven on the Gaon Digital Chart.

In the United States, "Dingga" peaked at number five on the K-Pop Hot 100 and number eight on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
