Earnings of JYP Entertainment, one of the "Big 4" agencies in the K-pop industry, is expected to increase this 2021 starting from the second quarter of the year through a full lineup of comebacks of artists, from TWICE to NiziU.

About JYP Entertainment and Its Artists

Founded in 1997, JYP Entertainment is established by J.Y. Park or Park Jinyoung, who is nicknamed "The Asiansoul." It is one of the biggest entertainment agencies in South Korea. Not to mention, JYPE is one of the "Big 4" companies in K-pop because of its reputation of being one of the labels that produce successful idol groups.

At present, JYP Entertainment manages seven idol groups, namely 2PM, TWICE, ITZY, DAY6, Stray Kids, Boy Story, and NiziU. The agency previously handled solo artists like Rain and Baek A-yeon, as well as duos and groups such as Wonder Girls, 2AM, g.o.d, Miss A, GOT7, Jus2, JJ Project, and 15&.

Last month, the 2020 total profits and sales of the "Big 4" entertainment companies in K-pop were revealed. In spite of the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, JYPE saw an increase in profits thanks to the album sales of its artists.

According to a Korean researcher, JYP Entertainment's earnings this 2021 might further improve, particularly starting from the second quarter, through having comebacks of artists, from TWICE to NiziU.

On April 12, JoyNews24 published an article about an analysis of JYP Entertainment's earnings this year. The media outlet stated that Lee Sang-heon, a Korean researcher at Hi Investment & Securities, said that starting from the second quarter of 2021, activities of JYP artists are expected to be visible and these include a full lineup of comebacks of TWICE, NiziU, Stray Kids, ITZY, 2PM, and DAY6.

"Despite the effects of the pandemic, improvement in earnings this year may continue," the Korean researcher remarked.

NiziU, the first Japanese idol group of JYP Entertainment, released their second single "Take a Picture/ Poppin' Shakin'" on April 7. The song climbed to No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Chart and its sales contribution to the company's total profits in the future.

TWICE, which is well-known in its home country and overseas, surpassed 10 million cumulative album shipments to Korea and Japan in December last year. The girl group has several albums that became the bestselling works in the month or year of its release.

Hence, TWICE has become a steady contributor to JYPE's total earnings.

Stray Kids' sales are growing rapidly - from 200,000 albums in 2019 to 500,000 repackaged albums in 2020 - due to a sharp rise in popularity in the United States, according to Hi Investment & Securities.

As for ITZY, the group's "Not Shy" album sold about 250,000 copies, and their activities are expected to expand to the United States and Canada starting from their "Guess Who" album that will be released on April 30.

2PM also has a high possibility of a complete comeback in the second quarter of the year as the members have completed their military services. If their group activities will resume, performances in Japan are also expected.

Meanwhile, DAY6 is currently gearing up for their comeback on April 19. This rock band has been releasing albums that Billboard often recognizes.

In addition to these current artists, Hi Investment & Securities also stated that the growth potential of JYP Entertainment's earnings will ascend with the debut of a new boy group in the second half of the year or next year through the audition show "LOUD."
