SHINee member Taemin is set to take a temporary break from the limelight as he would be enlisting in the military on May 31. The "Don't Call Me" hitmaker confirmed the news on Monday, April 19, thru a live broadcast via Naver V Live.

SHINee Taemin to Start His Military Service on May 31
SHINee member Taemin shocked everyone when he announced that he would be starting off his mandatory military service on May 31. After he first learned about the news, the K-pop idol decided to make the most out of the remaining time that he is still free to do what he wants.
Taemin shared he wants to be happy in the upcoming weeks before he would start his service in the military. The SHINee member said he want to let his avid followers know first and this is the primary reason why he chose to announce it thru his V Live.
Most, if not all, fans area aware that Taemin would be the fourth member of SHINee to get enlisted. To recall, Onew was the very first SHINee member to apply and enlist for the mandatory military service in December 2018. Key and Minho, then, followed on March 4, 2019 and April 15, 2019, respectively.
Onew was discharged from the military in July 2020. Key completed his service on September 24, 2020 while Minho finished his service on November 15, 2020. Just days after Minho was discharged, the group hinted at a possible reunion.
SM Entertainment, in January 2021, confirmed the official return of SHINee in the music scene after two and a half years. Indeed, Taemin, Minho, Key and Onew made a comeback as a quarter and released their seventh Korean studio album called "Don't Call Me" on February 22, 2021.
On April 12, SHINee also released a repackaged version of their seventh album titled "Atlantis." The said EP featured three new songs, namely: "Atlantis," which served as the carrier single, "Area" and "Days and Years." All nine songs from the "Don't Call Me" album was also included in the group's most recent EP.

SHINee Taemin To Make Solo 'Beyond Live' Concert On May 2
Meanwhile, Taemin is confirmed to make his first-ever virtual solo concert, less than a month before his official military enlistment. The SHINee member would make his worldwide broadcast of "Beyond Live - Taemin: N.G.D.A. (Never Gonna Dance Again) concert on Naver's VLive app at the Beyond Live Channel on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 3 p.m. KST.
The forthcoming solo return of Taemin to the center stage would mark more than a year since he held his "T1001101" concert in Japan sometime in December 2019. The SHINee member's "Beyond Live" concert also follows his "Never Gonna Dance Again" album, which was divided into two parts and dropped in 2020.
Taemin made the announcement during the special VLive broadcast of SHINee afterthe release of the repackaged version of their "Atlantis" album. At the time, the K-pop idol said he already completed the list of songs that he would be performing for the show. He even shared a photo of him in the dance practice room of SM Entertainment, proving that he is preparing very well for his forthcoming solo online concert.
