Jessi Reveals She Was Bullied as a Child, Betrayed by Her First Boyfriend

Jessi Reveals She Was Bullied and Cheated On While in America

During Jessi's appearance on SBS's "Tikita Car" on Sunday, Apr. 25, Jessi revealed that she was bullied while living in the United States. She had endured numerous racist comments, stating that she was bullied for six years because she was the only Asian girl in her community.

Jessi revealed that she was constantly bullied at the time. The only time the bullying stopped was when Jessi fought back, and people were too afraid to come close to her again.

It was hard for the rapper, but Jessi revealed that she would always pretend and act as if she was okay with her mother.

During the show, Jessi stated that she would wake up every day even if she broke down or collapsed. Her mother would tell her how great and strong she is.

Jessi, who has a strong mentality, definitely lives up to her strong noona image.

During the show, Jessi also revealed that she was betrayed by the first boyfriend she had when she was just nineteen years old. It turned out that her boyfriend of four years had lied to her about his age.

Despite being lied to all this time, Jessi said that she was so in love with him that she could not bring herself to break up with him, despite how disappointed she was.

Hearing about this, Tak Hae Joon comforted Jessi, saying, "Jessi was very pure when she was young."

Jessi has definitely grown since then, and we are happy to see her flourish and achieve great success with her music!

Jessi's Recent Activities

On Mar. 17, 2021. Jessi released the digital single "What Type of X." The song peaked at number 38 on the Gaon Digital Chart and at number 30 on the K-pop Hot 100 Charts.

In the United States, the song peaked at number five on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart.

On Aug. 2020, Jessi joined the cast of MBC's "Hangout With Yoo" and debuted in the four-member girl group, Refund Sisters. The group consists of Jessi, Lee Hyori, Uhm Jung Hwa, and MAMAMOO's Hwasa. They released the song "Don't Touch Me" on Oct. 10, and the song peaked at the top of the Gaon Digital Chart for two weeks.
