Brave Girls and Highlight Dominate Two Gaon Charts Each + Super Junior Yesung Tops Gaon Album Chart

On May 13, the Korea Music Content Association released the rankings of various Gaon charts for the 19th week of 2021. K-pop groups Brave Girls and Highlight reigned as No. 1 on two charts each, while Super Junior Yesung takes the top spot of one Gaon Chart.

Brave Girls and Highlight Each Take No. 1 Spot on Two Gaon Charts for 19th Week of 2021

According to Korea Music Content Association, Brave Girls - consisting of Minyoung, Eunji, Yujeong, and Yuna - has ranked first on two Gaon Charts. In particular, the quartet took first place on the digital and streaming charts with "Rollin'," achieving double crowns.

Brave Girls has been topping these two Gaon charts for three weeks in a row, showing their continuous popularity in the K-pop industry. Their hit song "Rollin'" appears to gain more listeners in the country as days pass by.

On May 10, Brave Girls joined the fandom platform UNIVERSE as the fifth girl group after IZ*ONE, Oh My Girl, (G)I-DLE, and WJSN. Members Minyoung, Eunji, Yujeong, and Yuna are currently gearing up for a comeback this summer. Hitmaker Brave Brothers will be producing their upcoming song.

Second-generation idol group Highlight has also attained double crowns on Gaon Chart. Their new album, "The Blowing," ranked first on the download and BGM (background music) charts, making their return to the K-pop scene more meaningful.

Highlight, formerly known as Beast and B2ST, was on hiatus since mid-2018 after member Doojoon enlisted for his mandatory military service. The other members, Yang, Gi-kwang, and Dongwoon joined the army in 2019. All of them were discharged last year.

On May 3, Highlight made their first comeback as a four-piece band with their third extended play "The Blowing," their first release in almost three years since their second mini-album "Celebrate" in October 2017.

Highlight's "The Blowing" received positive feedback from fans across the globe. The album placed first on iTunes Chart in four regions and also entered the top 10 in 11 countries.

Super Junior Yesung Ranks First on Gaon Album Chart for 19th Week of 2021

While Brave Girls dominated the digital and streaming charts and Highlight took first place in download and BGM charts, Super Junior Yesung reigned as No. 1 on the Gaon Album Chart for the 19th week of 2021 (May 2 to 8). This means his solo comeback album "Beautiful Night" achieved the highest sales that week. Gaon Chart is yet to update their official website.

"Beautiful Night" is Yesung's first release in almost two years since his third extended play "Pink Magic" in June 2019. He is the second Super Junior member to make a solo comeback this year after Kyuhyun, who released a new single titled "Coffee" on April 13.

Following the album's release, Super Junior Yesung's "Beautiful Night" ranked No. 1 on iTunes Top Album Chart in 27 countries around the world.

Meanwhile, Yesung will release a live video of his new track "No More Love" through Super Junior's YouTube channel, Naver TV, and SMTOWN V LIVE channel later today, May 13 at 6 p.m. KST.
