Is GFRIEND Disbanding? Group Fails to Agree with Company Regarding Contract Renewals
According to an exclusive report released by Tenasia, GFRIEND is on the brink of disbandment. The members are said to be going their separate ways as their failure to renew their contract with their current label, Source Music.
According to reports, the terms of the contract were not agreed upon, leading to a failure in resigning the members. All the members will reportedly leave the company.

No additional information was given by Tenasia. Source Music has yet to issue an official statement concerning the matter.
GFRIEND's Debut, Breakthrough, and Recent Activities
GFRIEND debuted on Jan. 15, 2015, under Source Music. The group debuted with the mini-album "Seasons of Glass," which contains their debut song "Glass Bead."
Despite coming from a small and unknown company, "Seasons of Glass" debuted at number 12 on the Gaon Weekly Album Chart.
That same month, the music video for "Glass Bead" ranked at number nine on YouTube's most-viewed K-pop music videos around the world in Jan. 2015. Billboard named the girl group as one of the top five K-pop artists to watch that year.

GFRIEND achieved the breakthrough success that same year, in Sept. 2015. Back in Jul. 2015, they released the song "Me Gustas Tu" from their second mini-album, "Flower Bud." While it received some attention, the song garnered international attention after a fan-taken video of the GFRIEND members slipping during a performance on a slippery stage went viral. The group was praised for their professionalism.

They entered the mainstream market in 2016, with the release of their third mini-album, "Snowflake," and its lead single, "Rough." The girls received their first music show win with the song and subsequently won fourteen awards on music shows, including triple crowns on "M! Countdown," "Music Bank," "Show Champion," "Inkigayo." With a total of fifteen weeks, they are the girl group with the second most music show awards.

GFRIEND's last comeback was on Nov. 9, 2020, with their third full-length studio album, "Walpurgis Night," and its lead single, "Mago." The song debuted at number 17 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart and peaked at number 16.
On the K-Pop Hot 100 chart, "Mago" debuted at number 46. In South Korea, "Mago" debuted at number 42 on the Gaon Digital Chart and at number three on the Download Chart.
