Tweets Related to BTS and Their New Single "Butter" Surpass 300 Million Worldwide
On May 24, news outlets reported that the number of tweets related to the group BTS and their new English-language single "Butter" has exceeded 300 million around the world. This figure is an aggregate amount for about a month from April 24 to May 23, including the teasing period for the release of "Butter," which started on May 10.
After BTS "Butter" was dropped on May 21 at 1 p.m. KST, the number of related tweets reached 31 million in only a day. On that day, the time when BTS and "Butter" were the most-tweeted was from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., recording five million tweets in just an hour.

As of May 21, the most tweets occurred in different countries around the world, such as Korea, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Japan, the Philippines, Mexico, Thailand, India, and Peru.
Immediately after BTS's "Butter" was launched, multiple hashtags in connection with the K-pop boy group and their comeback song, including "#BTS_Butter," "#BTS," "#BTSBackWithButter," "#BTSArmy," and "#SmoothLikeButter" have all risen to the top of the global trend on Twitter, proving BTS's worldwide popularity.
Meanwhile, Twitter has provided a special emoji to celebrate the release of BTS's new English-language single "Butter." From April 28, if fans would use the hashtag "#BTS_Butter" when writing a post on the platform, a heart-shaped yellow butter logo symbolizing BTS's "Butter" will automatically be applied to the tweet. And if the hashtags "#BTS" and "#BTSARMY" will be used, a yellow-colored BTS logo will be included.

Previously, Twitter has already launched special emojis for the release of BTS's "Butter." On the day of release, an emoji in the shape of a melting butter was surprisingly applied for the hashtag "#SmoothLikeButter."
And as for the hashtag "#Got_ARMY_Behind_Us," which expresses gratitude to ARMY (BTS's fan club), a BTS logo emoji appeared.
In addition, the Twitter account "Twitter Music Account" congratulated BTS on their new release by changing the account name to "Twitter Music is listening to Butter."
Kim Yeon Jeong, the managing director of Twitter's Global K-pop and K-Content Partnership, stated, "ARMY around the world generated a record of 300 million tweets in a month in the process of supporting the release of BTS's "Butter."
He added, "We will do our best to connect K-pop artists and their fans so that they can communicate more closely in the future."

Apart from the 300 million tweets generated from April 24 to May 23, BTS has also recorded millions of tweets today, May 24, during the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
