BTS, aespa, and More: These are the Most Viewed K-Pop MVs for the 21st Week of 2021

On May 22 KST, K-Pop Radar's weekly charts for the most viewed K-Pop music videos on Youtube were updated to reflect the data that they have gathered for the 21st week of 2021, from May 16 to 22.

BTS's "Butter" is the Most Viewed K-Pop Music Video for the 21st Week of 2021

Snagging the number one spot as the most viewed K-Pop music video this week is none other than BTS's "Butter," which was recently released on May 21 KST. With just a day within the weekly charts, "Butter" had already accumulated 128,543,131 views on Youtube, breaking the record for the most views within just 24 hours of its release, with their first all-English song "Dynamite" holding the record previously.

Prior to "Butter," "Dynamite" had broken the record with more than 101.1 million views on Youtube, and "Butter" took the record with approximately 108.2 million views accumulated in its 24-hour mark. In addition, their recent release have made headlines as the fastest Youtube video to surpass 10 million views, as well as the fastest to surpass 100 million views - only taking 20 hours and 55 minutes to reach the mark.

As of this writing, BTS's "Butter" currently has 183,467,135 views and more than 14 million likes.

aespa's "Next Level" is the Second Most Viewed K-Pop Music Video for the 21st Week of 2021

Coming in as the second most viewed K-Pop music video for the 21st week of 2021 is SM Entertainment's girl group, aespa, with their new song "Next Level." The music video, which was released on May 17 KST, had accumulated 63,962,670 views from May 16 to 22. In just 24 hours of its release, it surpassed 22,736,008 views, making aespa the girl group with the shortest time to reach 20 million views among SM Entertainment's girl groups.

"Next Level" is a remake of a soundtrack from the popular Western movie "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw," and features a groovy rap with powerful vocals from its members.

Besides breaking SM Entertainment's own record for girl groups, aespa also broke their own record. In November 2020, aespa released their debut song "Black Mamba," which surpassed 21.4 million views after 24 hours of its release, making it have the third highest views in 24 hours among SM Entertainment music videos.

As of this writing, aespa's "Next Level" currently has 77,076,016 views and more than 1.7 million likes.
