VIXX Ravi Shares Thoughts on His Musical Style

Musicians always face the difficulty of choosing whether to prioritize a song's popularity over its uniqueness, but for VIXX's rapper, Ravi, he decided to bring forth his own musical identity in his recently released album, "Roses," which is his fourth solo mini-album, on June 3 at 6 pm KST.

According to Ravi in an interview with The Korea Times, he shares how he has released a lot of singles up to date, however, he thinks that he hasn't been able to successfully tell people what exactly his musical style and color are.

Through his new album, "Roses," he hopes to be able to clearly display who he is, what genres he can do well, and the kind of sounds and lyrics he can make.

Ravi also revealed that a lot of people have told the rapper that they were not fond of his songs. The VIXX member also confessed to endeavoring in making his previous singles sound more appealing to the general public. "But not a lot of them actually listened to my songs when they were released," said, Ravi.

He added that the songs he released were neither popular nor reflects his own style, so from then on, he decided to build his own unique musical identity.

Ravi Revealed to Have 198 Songs Copyrighted Under His Name

In his solo mini-album, "Roses," which includes seven songs, Ravi is credited as a lyricist and composer in all of the songs. This brings up the number of copyrighted songs under Ravi's name to an amazing 198 songs registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA).

Regarding the number of copyrighted songs he has, Ravi shared his thoughts honestly. He shares how there is a burden and that it seems like a lot of money. He feels it a little burdensome when numbers become keywords, especially when there are people like BTS's RM and G-Dragon.

"But at the same time, it's fun. I am doing what I want to do," added Ravi.

Meanwhile, Ravi's solo mini-album, "Roses" has seven songs from different genres that offer a different perspective on love, such as double title tracks "Flower Garden" and "Cardigan," "Chee$e," "Red Velvet," "Roses," "What Point," and "I Don't Deny."
