Red Velvet Joy's Solo Debut Stage for 'Hello' Receives Mixed Opinions

On Jun. 4, Red Velvet member Joy appeared on KBS's "Music Bank" to promote her solo debut song "Hello."

Many were upset that the idol had lip-synced during her performance, commenting that the idol is known for her soft and sweet vocals; thus, this would have been an excellent opportunity to show her live vocal ability.

Some also mentioned that the choreography is not tiring, so she could have sung it effortlessly if she was allowed to sing live.

People noted that when she performed on "Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook," Joy proved that she could sing live well, and people complimented her stable vocals and sweet tone. Many expressed their sadness over SM Entertainment making her lip sync.

Meanwhile, others were disappointed over the idol's outfit, calling out SM Entertainment's stylist for not giving her clothes that maximize her beauty.

As her song "Hello" is a remake of a song originally released in the 2000s, the idol's outfit was retro-inspired. Many believed her outfits made her look older than her actual age and thought they could have opted for a Y2K style instead.

People believe that Joy's visuals are what saved the performance.

Lastly, people were not satisfied with the overall stage quality. Usually, when an artist from SM Entertainment makes their debut, they have elaborate debut stages with lots of props, set designs, and backdrops.

However, Joy's stage had none of that, as these fans believe. Instead, her stage consisted of an LED background and confetti. This sparked sadness among fans, witnessing the seemingly lack of care put into Joy's solo stage.
