High School Students Receive Their "BTS J-Hope Scholarship"

According to reports, on June 8, KST, Jeonnam Girls' Commercial High School held a "BTS J-Hope Scholarship" awarding ceremony at the campus.

The "BTS J-Hope Scholarship" was awarded to ten students, namely five first-year students, three second-year students, and two third-year students, who showed excellent academic performance and good behavior. Each of the scholarship recipients received a total of 500,000 won (around $450 USD), which totals to five million won (around $4,500 USD) worth of scholarship fund.

The "Chicken Noodle Soup" singer and rapper had donated 100 million won in scholarship to Jeonnam Girls' Commercial High School through the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation back in 2019.

So far, a total of 30 students from Jeonnam Girls' Commercial High School have received the "BTS J-Hope Scholarship," with a cumulative amount of 15 million won (around $13,500 USD).

Son Ye Won, a first-year student at the high school and a recipient of the scholarship, said, "I am honored to receive the 'BTS J-Hope Scholarship.'" The school's principal, Choi Gyu Myeong, said that they would do their best to provide various educational opportunities to students so that the students with a passion for studying can realize their dreams.

BTS J-Hope Donates to Children and Families

This isn't the first time J-Hope has donated! Back on May 4, it was revealed that BTS's rapper and dancer had donated 100 million won (around $89.6 thousand USD) to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation to help the children in Tanzania, Africa, who are exposed to violence in honor of Children's Day, that is celebrated in South Korea every May 5, according to a representative of the Foundation.

According to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, J-Hope's donation will be be used to support the "One Stop Centre," an organization that aims to support children's violence prevention projects in Tanzania, Africa.

In 2020, J-Hope also donated 100 million won (around $89.6 thousand USD) to children in families who are suffering from the effects of COVID-19.

This year, to celebrate his birthday in February, J-Hope made another donation of 150 million won (around $134 thousand USD). With his continuous donations to various charities and organizations, J-Hope's total donation amounts to more than 700 million won (around $628 thousand USD).
