MAMAMOO Wheein reportedly decided to leave RBW after contract expiration. Following the news, fans are concern whether the group will still carry out their group activities as a four-member group.
On June 9, Korean media outlet Sports Trends reported that Wheein will not renew her contract with MAMAMOO's original nest, RBW. In the article, the future of the group was also mentioned.
MAMAMOO Wheein to Leave RBW?
In the report, it was announced that the female songstress will part ways with her agency after seven years. However, RBW still avows to support Wheein's own path as a freelance artist.
Way back in 2014, Wheein was introduced as a member of the girl group MAMAMOO. Along with Hwasa, Solar and Moonbyul, the quartet rose as a top-tier third-gen group.
In particular, Wheein received massive love and support for her seductive voice, rich singing ability, and outstanding performance. In the later years, the once underrated group and idol rose as a representative girl group in Korea. MAMAMOO is notable for their tracks, " Oh Ah Yeh," "Decalcomanie," "HIP," "You're the Best," and "Gogobebe."
Last April, Wheein also just completed a successful solo debut. She released her first mini-album, "Red." Her solo career receives domestic and international recognition. The singer proved that she's a one-top artist with her high music charts rankings.
Based on the same source, Wheein is already attracting positive attention and love calls from the music industry. Since she showed such versatile music skills in many fields, attention is being paid to which place she will join hands to start her second act splendidly.
Nevertheless, MAMAMOO's entire activities will continue under mutual discussion.

RBW Responds That They are Still in the Final Round of Discussions with Wheein + To Release Official Announcement Soon
Following the news, RBW announced its official position saying, "No decision has been made regarding Wheein's renewal contract yet," implying that they are still in the final discussion.
The agency also asked to wait for a further official announcement saying, "We will inform you officially as soon as we landed with a final decision."
With the shocking news, fans are already concerned about what will happen to the group if Wheein will really part ways with them. In the K-pop industry, there is a so-called "7-year Curse" since a lot of K-pop groups are disbanding in their seventh year. If not disband, a member will either leave the group or jump to another agency, which is making it impossible for a group comeback.
Ahead of their contract expiration, Solar and Moonbyul proceed with contract renewal with RBW in January. Amid several rumors that Hwasa will leave the agency, she announced her tight bond with the agency in March.
Fans are still expecting that Wheein will stay with RBW. After all, MAMAMOO just released their new mini-album 'WAW' on June 2.
