Korean MAMAMOO Fans Protest Against 2PM New Song 'Hold You' — Here's Why

After five years, K-pop icon 2PM is finally back as a complete group! Their latest album, "MUST," garnered favorable feedback from fans - except from this one song as it currently faces backlash from MAMAMOO fans, MooMoos.

On June 29, several MAMAMOO fans raised their sentiments against 2PM's new track, "Hold You." This is not because the song is bad or carries some derogatory message, but because the title means a lot to the fandom.

Korean MAMAMOO Fans Upset by 2PM for Using "놓지않을게" in Title Song

With the group 2PM returning as a complete group after five years, MAMAMOO fans in Korea point out they are against the boy group using "놓지않을게" (I won't let you go).

In particular, 2PM graced the K-pop industry with their seventh full-length album, "MUST" after five years of military hiatus. The members, except Thai-born K-pop star Nichkhun, came back after serving the army with more powerful tracks, including "Hold You ( 놓지않을게)."

The track is actually written and composed by member Jun.K, which expresses gratitude to fans who stayed by their side, and the group's desire to never let go of them. The track is supposed to be a heartwarming song that aims to reach their fans through 2PM's incredible vocals.

Unexpectedly, some MAMAMOO fans oppose the song. Korean fans expressed their dissatisfaction on the music site MelOn, claiming that, "놓지않을게" is MAMAMOO's official slogan for fans, that they have been using for six years. The quartet released a song in 2016 with the same title.

Soon enough, internet users expressed divided opinions over the discord. Some non-MAMAMOO fans explained that the phrase is common, which is why it is difficult to claim it's the group's own phrase." Other K-pop fans added there's actually a lot of K-pop songs with the same title, and it shouldn't be a big deal.

International MooMoos also raised concerns over the alleged intensive gatekeeping, saying that MAMAMOO is apparently okay with other groups using the phrase as they didn't claim it to be theirs in the first place.

2PM Impresses Fans with Upgraded Sexiness in "MUST"

2PM's comeback is a success overall. The group who made their return truly quenched the thirst of fans with their upgraded visuals and more mature image with "MUST."

Following their reverse-running song "My House" in domestic charts, K-pop enthusiasts had been ecstatic to see them wreck the K-pop scene again with new songs.

At the time of their promotions on their first music show, the viewer's tension was raised with the members still-like beauty and explosive charisma as their perform their title track, "Make it (해야 해)"

The members also conveyed their thoughts about the expectations of fans, saying, "I think it was made by all six of us, and as much as we worked together, we were able to play a better song for you."
