LOONA Becomes the First Female K-pop Artist in History to Attain This Milestone on US iTunes Album Chart

LOONA's new mini-album "[&]" has achieved another historic feat on the iTunes chart, particularly on the US iTunes Album chart.

On June 28, LOONA released a new mini-album, entitled "[&]" (read as "and"). Since then, the album has entered iTunes charts in different countries around the world.

LOONA is the First Female K-pop Artist to Achieve This Feat on US iTunes Album Chart

On July 2, LOONA's "[&]" achieved its 36th No. 1 on the iTunes Album chart.

In particular, LOONA's new mini-album rose to the top spot of the iTunes Album chart in the United States.

This is the fifth time that the girl group has peaked at No. 1 on the US iTunes Album chart with a new album.

LOONA's previous albums that secured the No. 1 spot on the US chart are "+ +," "X X," "[#]," and "[12:00.]"

This means all of their albums since their debut hit the No. 1 spot on the said US iTunes Album chart.

Because of this, LOONA has become the first female K-pop artist in history to have five different albums that reached the top position on the US iTunes Album chart.

Not all Korean acts peak at No. 1 on this US chart, and considering that LOONA has topped the rankings five times with five different albums only proves their great popularity in the United States.

The first time when the 12-member girl group grabbed the top of the US iTunes Album Chart, they have become the third female K-pop girl group to do so, following Red Velvet and TWICE.

In addition to this, LOONA is the first-ever K-pop girl group to hit No. 1 on both US iTunes Album and Song charts.

Back in October 2019, LOONA's "X X" ranked first on the US iTunes Album Chart. Then, their single "365" topped the US iTunes Song chart in November of the same year.

LOONA's "[&]" is their first album with the participation of all 12 members after two years since the release of "X X" in February 2019.

LOONA member Haseul took a break from group activities in January 2020 as she experienced symptoms of anxiety. She rejoined the group in early June this year after 18 months of hiatus.

LOONA to Make their Debut in Japan + Teases

In other news, LOONA has announced that they will make their debut in Japan after three years since their Korean debut in August 2018.

On June 27, LOONA unveiled a special clip that was filmed at the Mori Building Digital Art Museum: teamLab Borderless. The video presents the members performing their 2018 single "favOrite" and their 2019 title song "Butterfly."

At the end of the clip, the girl group revealed that they will make their Japanese debut on September 15.

Prior to their upcoming debut, LOONA released a Japanese version of their new title track "PTT (Paint The Town)" on June 28.
