Smooth E Thailand Releases Statement and Apology After Being Caught Promoting Hate Tweet Against BLACKPINK Jennie
Following the backlash, Smooth E Thailand released its first statement in Thai on July 13. They claimed that they accidentally promoted the hate tweet against Jennie due to a mistake in promoting an ad campaign. The media agency in charge of their ad campaigns apologized for their errors and clarified how the situation came to be.
The company aimed to promote a tweet through an account named "Homrada @homradaa," who had shared a sponsored post for the brand's Smooth E Babyface 2-in-1 mask. However, they ended up promoting an ad with a similar account name, "@Homrada." After noticing their mistake, they terminated the promotion of the tweet.
They state they had no ill intentions and did not intentionally refer to any other person. While they explained the situation, many were disappointed that the statement did not message Jennie specifically, and fans continued trending their hashtags, demanding the company specifically apologize to Jennie.
