Among numerous rookie groups, aespa and TREASURE were crowned as the "Best Female Rookie" and "Best Male Rookie," respectively. CRAVITY, ENHYPEN, Weeekly, STAYC, and more also entered the rankings.

aespa, TREASURE Reigned as Best Female and Male Rookie Groups in the First Half of 2021

On July 14, the global K-pop fandom platform Whosfan held an online poll through the segment "WhosPICK."

The theme of the poll revolved around the question, "Who is the best male/female rookie idol who shone in the first half of 2021?"

After a fierce battle with about 520,000 global votes, TREASURE topped the list of male rookie idols with 35.94% of the votes, while aespa dominated the female category with 30.30% of the votes.

With the results, aside from solidifying their titles as "Best Rookie Groups," both of the teams will also receive an exclusive article issued by Whosfan, along with a pop-up advertisement on the platform for a week.

aespa, comprised of Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing truly showed "rookie monster" energy since its debut. When "Black Mamba" was released, the quartet (an octet with ae) broke the record for the fastest group's debut MV to reach 100 million views.

In addition to this, their new track, "Next Level" also rose atop domestic and international charts, including MelOn 24Hits. With this, aespa became the first artist from SM Entertainment to top the mentioned chart, proving power.

TREASURE is also gaining massive response from K-pop fans. In January, the group becomes a million-seller with their cumulative album sales of "THE FIRST STEP" series from their debut album, "FIRST STEP: THE TREASURE EFFECT."

With this, they reigned as the fastest fourth-gen group to become a million-seller and second-fastest among boy groups trailing behind Wanna One.

Weeekly, CRAVITY, and More: Who are the Female and Male Rookie Groups that Shone the Best in the First Half of 2021?

Aside from aespa and TREASURE, various new artists that were active in the first half of the year were also nominated and competed for the title.

For the male rookies, P1Harmony and CRAVITY ranked second and third place, sequentially. They are then followed by ENHYPEN, EPEX, DRIPPIN, MIRAE, WEi, CIIPHER, BAE173, and GHOST9.

For the female rookies, Weeekly and LIGHTSUM ranked No. 2 and No.3, respectively, followed by STAYC, Purple Kiss, TRI.BE, WOO!AH!, and LUNARSOLAR

Meanwhile, global K-pop fandom platform Whosfan succeeded in securing 5.5 million users in a year under the support of the global K-pop fandoms since its official launch on May 22, 2020, and recently surpassed 5.9 million users.
