The boy group brand reputation rankings for August 2021 have been revealed, and some of the biggest K-pop acts such as BTS, EXO, and SEVENTEEN made it to the list!
On Aug. 14, the Korean Business Research Institute released their monthly issue of popular K-pop boy groups based on the analysis of the indexes of four aspects: consumer participation, interaction, media coverage, and community.
The indexes make up the big data that were accumulated from July 14 to Aug. 14. According to the Korean Business Research Institute, a total of 53,689,277 big data were collected. This month's boy group brand reputation data decreased by 6.87% compared to the previous month.
Through the analysis of the big data, the positive and negative evaluations of the boy groups can be determined. This means the brand reputation rankings present how much the boy groups were active on social media, searched for by people on social media, and talked about by the public within the given period.
BTS Maintains Its Position at No. 1 in the Boy Group Brand Reputation Rankings for August 2021
BTS (consisting of RM, V, Jungkook, Jimin, Suga, Jin, and J-Hope) once again took first place in the rankings of boy group reputation. This is the septet's 39th consecutive month to top the list.
This August 2021, BTS scored a brand reputation index of 13,098,122, which decreased by 12.65% compared to their index in July.
According to the Korean Business Research Institute, the high-ranking phrases that were used by the public as keywords for BTS are "Billboard," "ARMY," and "Butter."
Meanwhile, the highest-ranking terms related to BTS were "advertise," "long-running," and "prove."

Regarding the four aspects mentioned above, BTS saw a 1.64% increase in brand consumption index (2,109,389 index points). This means sales of the products related to the boy group achieved great results from July 14 to Aug. 14.
On the other hand, BTS saw significant decreases in the indexes of the three aspects: interaction, media coverage, and community.
EXO Climbs Up to No. 2 in the Boy Group Brand Reputation Rankings for August 2021
EXO, who has been climbing up the brand reputation rankings since their latest comeback, has succeeded in claiming the No. 2 spot this August after placing fourth in July.
EXO recorded a brand reputation index of 3,584,626 this month, showing an incredible 20.97% increase in their score since July. This means the boy group was more popular among the Korean citizens than the previous month.

Three out of the four aspects saw a striking rise from July 14 to Aug. 14, particularly in the media coverage (986,655 index points), communication (716,339 index points), and community (1,639,554 index points).
The consumer participation, on the other hand, decreased to 242,079 index points, signifying that the sales of EXO's merchandise reduced.
SEVENTEEN Remains in the Top 3 in the Boy Group Brand Reputation Rankings for August 2021
Sitting at No. 3 is SEVENTEEN, who has been ranking inside the Top 3 or Top 5 for several months now. The 13-member band had a boy group brand reputation index of 2,916,572 points for August 2021, marking a 30.90% decrease in their score since last month.
SEVENTEEN's index points in all four aspects: communication, consumer participation, media coverage, and community all decreased this month.

Despite this, being inside the Top 3 of the boy group brand reputation rankings show that SEVENTEEN is still one of the popular subjects in South Korea.
