Red Velvet Irene's Controversy before Hiatus
This is Red Velvet's first comeback since Irene's controversy last October. It began when a stylist and editor expressed to social media that she had been verbally abused by a certain idol group member.
The post includes the hashtags, "Monster" and "Psycho." Because of the hashtags, a lot of netizens speculated that the idol group member was Irene. Then a few days after the controversy sparked, Irene admitted that the idol in the editor's post was really her and she apologized before going on a hiatus.
Since then, Irene made minimum appearances in public as many netizens appealed that she withdraw from Red Velvet. Even so, Irene made her official appearances while promoting her first film "Double Patty" and began preparing for her comeback with Red Velvet.

Red Velvet returns with 'Queendom'
Red Velvet has made a comeback as a complete group after releasing their sixth mini-album on August 16. A lot of fans are reacting to the girl group's new track and mini-album in a positive way. But there are still some netizens who are not happy to see Irene with the girl group.
Their comeback is also a celebration for their 7th anniversary. Red Velvet has broken their two-year hiatus and they will start their activities with a new mini-album "Queendom." The album is unique in various ways.
The mini-album's title song "Queendom" is a pop dance with a new atmosphere and a good message. The choreography also has a rhythmic and bright energy. The album is also expected to get a positive reaction for it could meet the new side of Red Velvet, the "concept queen."

Red Velvet's Year of Hiatus

Although they have a lot of ups and downs, Red Velvet filled their long hiatus with many individual activities. Wendy recovered from her injury and showed her vocal capabilities that were different from the team color with her first solo album. Joy got attention by remaking famous songs, and even got a box office hit. Yeri took the lead role in the web drama "Blue Birthday" and is becoming known as an actress.
