Former IZ*ONE Kim Chaewon Reportedly Signs Contract with Source Music

According to an exclusive report released by Star News on August 17, former IZ*ONE member Kim Chaewon has signed an exclusive contract with Source Music and is officially under the HYBE Labels umbrella.

While competing on "Produce 48," Kim Chaewon represented Woollim Entertainment. She remained signed under the label while promoting with IZ*ONE, being one of the two artists from Woollim Entertainment to debut in the project girl group (the other being Kwon Eunbi, who is gearing for a solo debut under Woollim Entertainment).

According to the report, Kim Chaewon started negotiating her contract with Source Music in June. It also claims that Woollim Entertainment and Source Music signed a confidentiality agreement concerning their artist.

Kim Chaewon Will Reportedly Debut in a Girl Group With Two IZ*ONE Members

Star News reports that Source Music is gearing to debut a girl group that consists of five members, with two or three members reportedly being from IZ*ONE. Additionally, many believe that those who did not debut with IZ*ONE but competed on "Produce 48" will also be making their debut in this girl group.

Japanese member Sakura is reportedly negotiating an exclusive contract with HYBE Labels and could potentially sign on with Source Music. However, reports state that Sakura's signing with the company has been delayed due to difficulties in negotiations with HYBE Labels and Sakura's Japanese representative.

Another IZ*ONE member is reportedly negotiating her contract with Source Music as well. However, they state negotiations are proving to be difficult, as the former IZ*ONE member is more interested in acting than being a singer.

If the girl group is launched as planned, HYBE Label, which did not have a representative girl group following the disbandment of GFRIEND, will have a girl group in their roster once more; a girl group composed of members from IZ*ONE. Many believe that this girl group is destined for success due to the popularity of the potential members, and it is expected that they will gather love from fans in South Korea, Japan, and the global K-pop market.

On the other hand, IZ*ONE, which received a lot of love in Korea and Japan, disbanded in April. Kwon Eunbi, the group's former leader, will release her first solo album on August 24 and will be the first official re-debut from the members. Choi Yena is also planning to release a solo album by the second half of 2021.
