EXO D.O., BTS V, and More: These are the Most Popular K-Pop Idols in India

Idol Champ, the official idol voting application of MBC's music program "Show Champion," held a poll asking users to vote for the most popular K-pop idol in India. Keep on reading to see which idols made the top rankings.

From August 3 to August 17, Idol Champ held a poll titled "The Most Popular Idol in India." Users could vote for their favorite idols on this poll. By the end of the poll, the idol who ranked first place would win a subway station CM board advertisement. The ad would run from September 1 to September 30 and will be 2160 x 3840 pixels big.

The first-place winner is asked to send advertisement materials to Idol Champ by August 19.

EXO D.O. is the Most Popular K-Pop Idol in India

Ranking in the first place is none other than EXO's honey vocalist, D.O. The idol received 41.39% of the total votes cast.

On July 26, 2021, D.O. debuted as a soloist, releasing his first mini-album "Empathy" and its lead single "Rose." The album was released in three physical versions, with one being a photobook and the other two being digipak versions Blue and Grey.

"Empathy" features eight tracks. The lead single "Rose" is a heart-flutter acoustic folk song that lyrically depicts a love story. D.O. participated in writing lyrics for the song. The English version of "Rose" is included in the album as a bonus track, with lyrics telling a different story from the Korean version.

On the Gaon Album Charts, "Empathy" peaked at number one. In Japan, "Empathy" peaked at number four on the Oricon Albums Chart and at number ten on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart.

BTS V is the Second Most Popular K-Pop in India

Sitting in second place is BTS's lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and visual, V! The "Dynamite" singer snagged 38.74% of the total votes cast.

BTS released their third all-English-language single, "Permission to Dance," on July 9. Ten days later, on July 19, "Permission to Dance" debuted at the top of Billboard Hot 100, overthrowing another BTS single, "Butter." This marks BTS as the fastest artist to accumulate a quintet of number-one hits since Michael Jackson three decades ago.

On May 21, BTS released their second all-English-single "Butter." On June 28, the said song became BTS's longest-running number-one debut in Billboard Hot 100 charts. They broke the 23-year record of Aerosmith with "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" in 1998.
