#AdidasApologizeToJisoo: Adidas Slammed for Forgetting BLACKPINK Jisoo in Promotional Material

BLINKs slam athleisure brand Adidas for neglecting Jisoo in promotional material but using photos of the other three BLACKPINK members. Keep on reading for all the details.

Should Adidas Apologize to Jisoo For Forgetting Her in Promotional Material?

On August 24, BLACKPINK appeared in an advertising banner for the Adidas China website. People quickly noticed that the photo only contain three out of the four members of the group — Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa. Jisoo was nowhere to be found in the picture.

The brand also released a promotional video featuring the girls. While Jisoo appeared in the group shot, she was the only member not to have a solo shot.

Fans immediately trended the hashtag #AdidasRespectJisoo, as well as the phrase "Adidas Respect Jisoo" on Twitter. The hashtag soon trended worldwide, with fans calling out Adidas for neglecting Jisoo.

This is not the first time people have been upset at Adidas for forgetting Jisoo. Back in January 2020, fans trended the hashtag #AdidasTreatJisooBetter. At the time, the girls starred in Adidas' "Change is a Team Sport" campaign. Fans quickly pointed out that Jisoo only had one solo photo, while the other members had three. It was also pointed out that she was barely in the commercial for the campaign.

Despite how BLACKPINK's contract with Adidas entails all four members, the brand has been guilty of only using promotional images featuring the other three members of the group. Many are upset by this because Jisoo is very enthusiastic when promoting the brand on social media.

People are also upset because of how often Jisoo is credited for Adidas's rise in sales. For example, a pair of Adidas shoes Jisoo wore once sold out in Singapore due to her selling power. In addition, various fashion outlets have highlighted that Jisoo is one of K-pop's top influencers and that Adidas heavily relies on her for their sales.

Many are stating that if Adidas does not provide an explanation or change the banner images, they will boycott the brand. People are also demanding a statement from YG Entertainment on the incident. BLACKPINK's agency has been criticized for its lack of attention to these situations, which many claims add to the chaos within the fandom.
