EXO Chanyeol will reportedly star in an upcoming military musical, which will be held in a non-face-to-face format.
According to a news outlet on Sept. 22, the Army announced that a new creative military musical will be released through streaming platforms. It is said that an audition took place, and EXO member Chanyeol was chosen as one of the cast members.

The media outlet reported that the army held an audition for former soldiers and military personnel of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps since May to select the cast for their upcoming military musical, entitled "The Meissa's Song."
At the end of the audition, a total of 31 soldiers were chosen as cast members and one of them is EXO Chanyeol. His role in the musical is yet to be revealed.

"Meissa" refers to the star in the constellation of "Orion" which means "a shining existence." The army further explained that "Meissa" means "not to lose hope in despair."
In the military musical starring EXO Chanyeol, the "Meissa" was given by the main character to the dispatched soldier who protected him in the play.
"The Meissa's Song" will be produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of UN accession. The play will tell the story of the soldiers who are dedicated to creating international peace and the locals who are recovering their lost dreams and hopes thanks to them.

Through the military musical, the status of Korea, which has developed from a country that received help in the past to a country that currently helps, will be presented.
"The Meissa's Song" starring EXO Chanyeol will be directed by Lee Ji Na, who previously worked on the musicals "Gwanghwamun Sonata" and "Jesus Christ Superstar."
Kim Moon Jung will also participate in the production of the military musical. He was responsible for the music of "Les Miserables" and "Empress Myeongseong."
Moreover, composer Woody Park, who has been involved in various works across films and musicals, will work with Lee Ji Na and Kim Moon Jung.

The Army stated that they are closely monitoring the current COVID-19 situation and are preparing for the military musical, "The Meissa's Song," while applying the quarantine rules for the safety of the soldiers and staff participating in rehearsals.
"The Meissa's Song" will be held from Oct. 15 to Nov. 27 at the Woori Financial Art Hall in Seoul Olympic Park. While the October performance will take place in an ontact manner, the stage in November is yet to be decided whether or not to be performed face-to-face in consideration of the COVID-19 situation at that time.
Aside from EXO member Chanyeol, other K-pop idols who will appear in the military musical are INFINITE L (Kim Myung Soo) and BAP Daehyun. Brad Little and Michael Lee, who are very prominent musical actors in the industry, are also cast members in the play.

EXO Chanyeol Tomorrow Released While Serving in the Military
Chanyeol entered the military on March 29 of this year. He received four weeks of basic military training before being added to a unit to serve as an active-duty soldier.
While he was doing his duties in the army, EXO Chanyeol dropped his new single, titled "Tomorrow." This song is written by the idol himself and carries the message of hope for the future.
Chanyeol's "Tomorrow" is released on April 6, 2021, under SM Station, a project SM Entertainment launched in 2016.
