CL Announces Release Date and Tracklist for Much-Anticipated Album 'ALPHA'

CL has officially announced the release date for her first full album "ALPHA," along with the tracklist.

On Oct. 6 at midnight KST, the female soloist dropped a new teaser image for her long-awaited album, which will be her first full album in 13 years since her debut.

Over the past months, CL dropped two pre-release singles from the album: "SPICY" and "Lover Like Me."

Here's The Tracklist for CL ALPHA

In the newly released teaser image, the tracklist for CL's full album was unveiled. It will be composed of a total of 11 songs, including her two latest singles and her 2020 songs "HWA" and "5 STAR."

Although the titles of the tracks from CL's "ALPHA" are unveiled, the female soloist is yet to reveal which one of them will serve as the title song.

The unreleased songs that are included in "ALPHA" are "Chucky," "Xai," "Let It," "Tie a Cherry," "Paradise," "My Way," and "Siren."

What is CL 'ALPHA' Release Date?

According to the teaser image, CL's "ALPHA" will be released digitally on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. KST. The physical version of the album will then be dropped on Oct. 22.

"ALPHA" was originally set to come out on Nov. 30 of last year. However, CL decided to reschedule the album's release as she has encountered new ideas and opportunities along the way while making preparations.

The former 2NE1 member added that since "ALPHA" will be her first-ever physical album, it will be meaningful for her and so she wants to bring fans the best album.

CL Releases SPICY and Lover Like Me ahead of ALPHA

After 10 months since "HWA" and "5 STAR" were released, CL returned to the music scene in August with a new single, "SPICY."

In "SPICY," the former 2NE1 member compares her strong and independent image to a "spicy" sauce.

At 7 p.m. KST on Aug. 24, an hour after CL's "SPICY" was dropped, the single debuted on various Korean music charts. It landed at No. 13 on Bugs and No. 92 on Genie.

"SPICY" also debuted on the Spotify South Korea Daily Chart at No. 95 on Aug. 25. It then rose to the Top 60 of the chart one day later.

The single went on to enter the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart. It charted inside the Top 20, securing the No. 17 spot.

In just over a week, CL's "SPICY" music video surpassed 10 million views on YouTube, becoming the female artist's fastest MV to reach the milestone.

On Aug. 31, the MV was the most viewed music video by a female K-pop artist. It gained over 1.1 million views.

On Sept. 29, CL came back with another new single, titled "Lover Like Me." Well-known British singer Anne-Marie participated in writing the lyrics for the song.

After two days, CL's "Lover Like Me" entered at No. 61 on the Spotify South Korea Daily Chart, 34 spots higher than the debut of "SPICY" on the chart.

In just five days, CL's "Lover Like Me" MV exceeded 10 million views, and becomes the female soloist new fastest music video to achieve the feat, beating "SPICY."
