Why is Ahn Yujin Yet to Return as 'Inkigayo' MC? SBS and Starship Entertainment Releases Statement

Ahn Yujin has not yet resumed her position as an "Inkigayo" MC despite recovering from COVID-19. As many fans are wondering why this is the case, SBS and Starship Entertainment released brief statements through a media outlet.

In February of this year, former IZ*ONE member Yujin was announced as one of the new hosts on SBS's "Inkigayo," together with TREASURE Jihoon and NCT Sungchan. The three of them began hosting the music show in March.

SBS and Starship Entertainment Address Concern about Ahn Yujin Not Yet Resuming Her 'Inkigayo' MC Position

On Sept. 4, Ahn Yujin tested positive for COVID-19, one week after her labelmate and fellow IZ*ONE member Jang Wonyoung was diagnosed with the same virus.

In late October, the two female idols underwent testing for COVID-19 after discovering that they had crossed paths with a staff member who was later confirmed positive for the virus.

The initial test result of the former IZ*ONE Yujin came back negative, while Jang Wonyoung received a positive result. As a precautionary measure, both of them went into self-quarantine.

While in self-quarantine, Ahn Yujin developed a sore throat and fever, and later tested positive.

On Sept. 16, after almost two weeks, the company issued a follow-up statement, updating fans that Ahn Yujin has fully recovered.

Despite the end of her self-isolation and recovery, the former IZ*ONE member has not yet returned as an "Inkigayo" MC. The last episode where she appeared was on Aug. 22.

On Sept. 28, Ahn Yujin held an on-tact birthday party with her fans through V Live, where she also talked about her health.

Since the female idol is active in some way, fans are wondering why she is still not back on SBS's "Inkigayo."

As a result, the "Inkigayo" bulletin board is filled with requests from fans for Ahn Yujin's return as an MC and a clear position from the production team in relation to the issue.

Ahn Yujin's absence on SBS's "Inkigayo" became more mysterious among fans as her labelmate Jang Wonyoung was selected as the new MC of KBS2's "Music Bank" and recently completed her first hosting.

According to the Korean media outlet YTN on Oct. 12, an SBS official said that the timing of Ahn Yujin's return as an "Inkigayo" MC is still "undecided."

Meanwhile, Starship Entertainment said, "We will proceed with the schedule in consideration of the artist's health condition."

From June 15 to Aug. 31, 2018, Ahn Yujin represented Starship Entertainment together with Jang Wonyoung and Cho Kahyeon on the girl group survival show "Produce 48."

After IZ*ONE's disbandment in April 2021, she and Jang Wonyoung returned to Starship Entertainment as trainees.
