Oh My Girl Hyojung Sheds Tears After Seeing Kim Kookheon's Performance on 'Tomorrow's National Singer'
On October 14, TV Chosun aired the latest episode of their audition show, "Tomorrow's National Singer," which features performances from celebrities and non-celebrities of all walks of life.
In particular, Kim Kookheon - a former "Produce X 101" contestant, MYTEEN and B.O.Y member - surprised everyone by appearing as a contestant on the show.
During his appearance, Kim Kookheon opened up about feeling trapped and experiencing difficulties as a performer. "There were many heartaches during auditions. For several months, I felt as if I was trapped in the past. I even thought about giving up on performing my favorite dances and songs. However, I still thought that what I wanted was to be a singer, so I took on the challenge [of appearing on the show]," Kim Kookheon confessed.

Back in 2019, Kim Kookheon participated as a contestant in the fourth season of "Produce 101," where he finished at rank No. 21 and was subsequently eliminated from the show. However, it was revealed that Kim Kookheon was one of the victims of the "Produce" series' voting manipulation and was prematurely eliminated. His real ranking on the show wasn't revealed.
On "Tomorrow's National Singer," Kim Kookheon decorated the stage with his interpretation of BIGBANG member Taeyang's song, "Only Look at Me." Kim Kookheon received seven hearts for his performance.
After seeing his performance, Oh My Girl's Hyojung shed tears, and revealed that she was a fellow trainee of Kim Kookheon in the past. "He is a really passionate and hardworking friend of mine. In the past, he was someone who had difficulty dancing."

Baek Z Young, a former fellow labelmate of Kim Kookheon, also added sympathized with the latter. "I know better than anyone what path Kim Kookheon just walked through. This stage was just as like that. He is a very good singer," Baek Z Young said.
MYTEEN and B.O.Y's Disbandment
Meanwhile, Kim Kookheon was a member of groups MYTEEN and B.O.Y.
After Kim Kookheon and MYTEEN member Song Yuvin competed on "Produce X 101," fellow member Eunsu announced on his Instagram that the group would be disbanding. Music Works later confirmed the news, thus MYTEEN officially disbanded in 2019, after two years of activity.
Following MYTEEN's disbandment, Song Kookheon and Song Yuvin debuted as the duo B.O.Y in the same year. However, they also faced disbandment on April 30, 2021, after two years. Prior to disbanding, B.O.Y released the single "Blurry" and two mini-albums, "Phase One: You" and "Phase Two: We."
