Many criticized the girl for winning a spot in the debut line-up, claiming the only reason she has a large fan base is because of her older brother. Others attempted to defend her, saying that Huening Bahiyyih has a powerful voice, is capable of rapping and has all the qualities needed to be a debut member.
Now, however, the claim that her vocals are good enough is being debated.
Following the episode, Huening Bahiyyih's vocal cover of Ariana Grande's Breathin' resurfaced. The idol was often flat when trying to reach the high notes and relied on her head voice instead of using her diaphragm. Others stated she was straining her voice trying to hit Ariana Grande's notes.People claimed that she has yet to develop the basic skills needed to be an idol.
Some of the comments left under her video include, "Honesly, I do not care if you are a fan of Bahiyyih or not, but in this video, her voice is not as good as people say," "Does she have any special abilities that she was able to debut at number two? There is nothing outstanding in her singing nor her dancing," and "This video clearly shows her weakness. She needs more practice."
