Some of the categories for 2021 MAMA are "Best Dance Performance Solo," "Best Male Artist" and "Best Male Group." All of the nominees for these three categories are artists who released new songs or albums last year and this year.
However, SHINee fans (Shawols) were disappointed after finding out that SHINee member Taemin, who is known for his exceptional dancing skills and soloist prowess, was not nominated for the "Best Dance Performance Solo."
Fans are also questioning Mnet why neither Taemin nor Key was nominated for the "Best Male Artist," and SHINee is not one of the nominees in the "Best Male Group."
It can be recalled that SHINee made their long-awaited group comeback this past February with their seventh studio album "Don't Call Me." The boy group even dropped the repackaged version of the album, titled "Atlantis," in April.

All of their works received positive feedback from fans across the globe and were loved by critics, and therefore, the unexpected exclusion of SHINee and Taemin or Key in "Best Dance Performance Solo," "Best Male Artist" and "Best Male Group" caused a commotion on Twitter.
With numerous Shawols expressing their disappointment, "taemin" started trending on the app in different countries such as the United States, Germany, Brazil, Canada, France, and more.
"SHINee" also became a trending topic on Twitter in 19 countries like Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, Puerto Rico, and more.
On the other hand, SHINee is nominated for the 2021 MAMA's "Best Dance Performance Male Group" with "Don't Call Me."
