DAY6 Young K Updates Fans about His Life in the Military through a Letter

After nearly a month of enlisting in the military, DAY6 Young K gave an update on his time as an active-duty soldier.

On the afternoon of Oct. 12, Young K entered a new recruit training center to complete his basic military training. He will later join KATUSA, the Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army, which makes him the first K-pop artist to serve in the reputable branch.

DAY6 Young K Sends a Letter to Fans while Serving in the Military

On Nov. 5, JYP Entertainment shared a letter that Young K wrote for fans on DAY6's official Twitter account.

In his letter, the "You Make Me" singer said that the food in the military is so good that he often gets more several times. "There has never been a time that I had leftovers," he added.

DAY6 Young K went on to say that the menu in the military is diverse, and the seasoning is perfect. And, concerning his sleep, the bassist said that he sleeps really well at night.

He also stated, "I was worried that I might not be able to because I am living in the same space with other people. And when I wake up, I do stretching, so the time goes by quickly."

Young K further said that he's glad everyone around him likes me and that he is having a good time.

On Nov. 2, the vocalist was spotted wearing a military uniform in a photo the official page for the army training center in South Korea uploaded. Fans who saw the picture shared it on Twitter, as can be seen below.

This is the first time DAY6 Young K was seen by fans since joining the military this past October.

Young K is the second DAY6 member to enlist in the military, following the group's leader Sungjin who began his military service in March.

Before his enlistment, the DAY6 member carried out his activities as the DJ of KBS Cool FM's "DAY6's Kiss the Radio" on Oct. 10.

He also wrote a message for the fans that was revealed through JYP Entertainment. Young K said that he would like to spend his days in the military as fully as he has until now.

He also expressed his hope that when he wraps up his military duties and comes back in good health, he will be able to have a concert. He concluded that he hopes fans will eat well and always be healthy and happy.

DAY6 Young K Makes His Solo Debut ahead of Military Enlistment

On Sept. 6, Young K became the second DAY6 member to make his solo debut. He released his first mini-album, "Eternal," which features seven songs, including a title song and "sub-title track." All the songs from the album were written and composed by the idol himself.

The album's title track, "Guard You," boasts a combination of emo hip hop rhythm and emotional rock sound. This song defines a vow to protect a special person even if the world falls apart. A music video for "Guard You" was dropped on the same day.

On Sept. 13, the music video for the title track "come as you are" was unveiled. The song conveys warm comfort to someone who has always been the one giving comfort.

Meanwhile, in the first week of its release, DAY6 Young K's "Eternal" sold a total of 32,313 copies on the Hanteo Chart.
