Korean Media Outlet Names the Fourth Generation K-Pop Girl Groups You Need to Watch Out For

On November 29, South Korean media outlet News Culture named the fourth generation K-pop girl groups to watch out for. From JYPn to Kep1er, keep on reading to see who were selected.

1. Billlie

Billlie debuted on November 10, 2021, and is the first girl group under MYSTIC STORY. The girl group is gaining much attention, as the company is home to several other top musicians, such as Yoon Jong Shin. Before their debut, Billlie also gained popularity since the members were part of a pre-debut team, Mystic Rookies. There, the members showed off their talents and visuals.

The members themselves are gaining attention. Billlie contains Kim Soohyun, who acted in the web drama "A-TEEN" and competed on "MIXNINE." ASTRO member Moon Bin's sister, Moon Sua, is also part of the group. Former "Girls Planet 999" contestant Kim Suyeon, who now goes by Sheon, was also added to the group after Billlie's debut.

IVE is a girl group under Starship Entertainment slated to debut on December 1. The group initially garnered attention since former IZ*ONE members Ahn Yujin and Jang Wonyougn are part of the line-up. They continued to gain attention after the line-up was unveiled, and all the members were praised as visuals.

Kep1er is a nine-member girl group set to debut on December 14. The girl group was formed through the survival show "Girls Planet 999." The group's name is a combination of "Kep," meaning to catch a dream, and the number one, representing nine girls coming together as one group. They will promote for two years and six months.

The group has a large international fan base, with Korea, China, and Japan members. During "Girls Planet 999," fans from 175 countries participated in voting and determined the final line-up. The cumulative number of views on "Girls Planet 999" videos on the Mnet YouTube channel has surpassed 460 million views.

The girl group is expected to become a massive global girl group. Though they have yet to debut, Mnet has already announced that the group will have a reality show to promote the members.

JYPn (tentative name) is an upcoming girl group under JYP Entertainment that will debut in February 2022. Since August 2021, JYP Entertainment has been promoting its members by releasing promotional content through YouTube and Twitter. They have released singing videos, dancing videos, and live performances to showcase the members' talents.

The girl group is already gaining praise for their well-rounded line-up, with stunning visuals, and talented in singing and dancing. JYP Entertainment opened pre-orders for a limited edition album, "Blind Package, " before the line-up reveal. Despite not having any members revealed, the album sold 60,000 pre-order copies.
