From Creative Director to CBO, Min Hee Jin Reveals Why She Left SM and Move to HYBE

Min Hee Jin, the renowned art director who is currently in HYBE, unveiled for the first time why she decided to quit SM Entertainment. In the same show, the person behind the incredible MVs and albums such as EXO's "Growl," SNSD's "Gee," f(x)'s "Pink Tape," and more also hinted at her preparation for HYBE's upcoming girl group.

On tvN's entertainment program "You Quiz on the Block," which aired on the 1st, a special feature of "People Who Will Make a Big Thing Next Year" was broadcast.

In particular, Creative Director Min Hee Jin, currently the Chief Brand Officer (CBO) of HYBE, joined the episode to give a sneak peek at her soon-to-launch girl group.

In the same episode, she revealed the reason for quitting SM Entertainment.

During the show, Yoo Jae Suk revealed that he waited for the popular art director for a year prior to her guesting, drawing attention.

Just then, the two personalities mentioned SM Entertainment and revealed her stories during her work with the company.

"There was a direction that the company thought of, and there were things I wanted to suggest. I made an imageboard and explained it. I told (Lee Soo-man) that I think this will fit well with the Girls' Generation and that I wish it was this kind of picture. So, it's very fun. They told me to brief other departments, too. I gained confidence because I felt that he trusted me. Isn't it very good that the owner believes in it?" Min said.

Since then, she has worked on albums of many artists, including Girls' Generation, SHINee, f(x), and EXO.

However, a year after being promoted as SM Entertainment's Creative Director, Min Hee Jin decided to resign in 2019 after working with the company for 17 years.

"I've done too much work. Team members said, 'If I go to the survival game, I will win first place.' I continued in such a short time. I supported my 20s and 30s in my work. Actually, I've never been on vacation properly. I burned out too much and I thought I'd quit my job When I first talked to the chief producer, we cried together."

"Sometimes I thought, 'Why do I make myself suffer?'Self-discipline and self-censorship were severe. There are moments when I'm happy, but I wonder if this is the end of happiness. So I quit my job. There are so many things I haven't done in me. I thought I could do well, so I took on a new challenge," the female director added.

Min Hee Jin Decided to Move to HYBE as CBO + Prepares Debut of a New Girl Group

Just right after resignation, Min shared that HYBE called her, and after accepting the offer, she became the CBO. Currently, Min Hee Jin has moved to HYBE and is preparing for a new girl group.

The art director also expressed her confidence in the upcoming K-pop group.

"I've been preparing songs since two years ago. When I joined the company, I prepared with a good producer. I want to show it to you as soon as possible next year," Min said.
