Video of TWICE Nayeon Crying During TXT's 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) Resurfaces
It is not uncommon for an idol to cry during awards ceremonies. Usually, when a group receives an award, they will shed tears as they thank their supporters and loved ones. However, there is a particular case that fans will remember forever — and that is when TWICE member Nayeon burst into tears at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) while watching TXT's performance.

During the 2019 MAMAs, TXT was performing "Run Away" when Nayeon suddenly burst out crying at the song's beginning. While the exact reason she cried is unknown, it is believed that the lyrics of the song touched her. Specifically, the lyrics of "Run Away" read, "It seems like everyone else but me is happy / It hurts more to laugh than to cry / I try to hold it in, I try to endure, every day / But it is not easy / Right now, I need your hand."
Nayeon was seen shedding tears as TXT performed and was spotted sighing deeply. As the song reached its chorus, Nayeon reached for a tissue and gave a wry smile as she wiped her tears.
The footage of Nayeon crying at the song's message left a deep impression on viewers, with many noting that Nayeon experienced many unpleasant things in 2019. Specifically, Nayeon dealt with a stalker (sasaeng) fan named Josh and was also the victim of death threats from antis.
Some of the comments left concerning Nayeon shedding tears during TXT's performance reads, "Party because of the sad lyrics and partly because of what happened to her that year; that is why Nayeon cried," "At the time, Nayeon was being stalked and threatened by crazy fans, so she must have been so sad to cry like that," and "2019 was not good to Nayeon. So the lyrics made her cry."
