Several K-Pop Idols Nearly Experience Fall During 2021 Gayo Daechukje

On December 17, KBS held their annual Gayo Daechukje. Several K-pop groups performed at the event, such as Stray Kids, ITZY, aespa, ENHYPEN, TXT, Brave Girls, STAYC and Red Velvet.

On social media and South Korean online community forums, several topics about the KBS Gayo Daechukje are receiving much attention from the K-pop community. In particular, many were extremely angry after discovering that a dangerous situation occurred that could have potentially injured several idols.

During the ending performance, all the groups participating stepped out to perform "All For You" together. For the performance, the idols were standing on movable stairs. At the end of the performance, the staff suddenly moved the stairs as idols were still getting off and leaving the stage.

Many idols were caught by surprise as the stairs started moving without warning and during the lights were out. Fan cams taken during the event showed Stray Kids nearly falling forward due to the movement.

Additionally, a video was taken of aespa while they were trying to leave the stage. As the stairs moved, Winter was seen staggering and almost fell, which caused her to let out a scream. Thankfully, Giselle was able to catch Winter before she sustained any injuries.

Winter's yell was heard during the MCs intro. In the video, ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, SF9's Rowoon, and AOA's Seolhyun are seen hosting when Winter's scream is heard. This caused Cha Eun Woo and Rowoon to look back at the source of the sound, and a look of concern is seen on their faces.

KBS Slammed as Several K-Pop Idols are Nearly Injured During 2021 Gayo Daechukje

Many are criticizing the station's lack of professionalist. Although this is a prestigious annual music festival, instances that could endanger idols still occur. If they could not keep their balance, several female idols could have been greatly injured. Many compared this situation to Red Velvet member Wendy's accident during the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejun.

Some comments concerning the dangerous situation read, "Stray Kids' Chan was seen trying to help the members keep their balance, but the staff kept moving the stairs," "Winter's scream was so scared. If Giselle did not catch her, what happened next would be anyone's guess," "One little mistake and all the idols would get injured," "Did KBS inherit SBS's unprofessionalism?" "The idols were caught off-guard, and there was no announcement. It is heartbreaking to watch."
