IVE member Rei is drawing criticism for not singing her high note during encore stages. Keep on reading for all the details.
IVE Rei Garners Divided Opinions for Not Singing High Note During Encore Stages
IVE is currently the hottest rookie group in K-pop right now, with several posts made about the on community forums and social media daily. Just two weeks after their debut, IVE quickly acquired five trophies on music shows with their debut title track, "ELEVEN."
The Starship Entertainment girl group also had the opportunity to show off their live vocals at an encore stage. However, some say that singing live on the encore stage is no longer an opportunity; instead, it is a challenge for idols to prove their vocal abilities.

IVE member Rei has become a hot topic with South Korean internet users. People noticed that instead of singing her high note during the first pre-chorus, Rei finds a way to dodge it. During their first encore stage, Rei was in tears and cut off while singing. In succeeding stages, she would stop singing and shout out DIVE, the group's fandom.
As this has happened more than once, many are claiming that Rei cannot hit the note live. People are saying that while it was okay to do it once, it is unsettling that she has avoided the high note for every encore stage. Many chose to call her out and demand that she sing the high note properly.

Some of the comments criticizing Rei reads, "It is okay to do it once, but not okay to do it every time," "She pretends to be funny and uses this trick every time," "She sings the other parts well, why is she stopping at the high note?" and "She has a good voice, but the fact that she dodges the high note every time is suspicious."
However, DIVEs have defended Rei, saying she was just giving a shoutout to the group. The lyric she is singing is "The unfamiliar name that tickled my lips." During encore stages, Rei changed the word "name" to DIVE, which would mean she is singing, "The unfamiliar DIVE that ticked my lips." Supporters of the group state that this is just her way of showing her love for their fans.
