BTS Hits 11 Billion Streams on MelOn, First Artist to Hit the Milestone

On December 20, the phenomenal boy group hit more than 11 billion streams on South Korea's biggest streaming service, MelOn.

BTS achieved another impressive record that may take a while to be broken by other artists. The Bangtan Boys became the first and only act to achieve this milestone in MelOn's history.

Moreover, the group's hit released in 2017, "Spring Day," still holds the record for being the most-streamed song in MelOn's history with more than 800 million streams.

BTS Receives Platinum Certification for Their Hit Song 'Butter'

BTS received a Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan for their hit song, "Butter."

According to the list of Platinum-certified works announced by the RIAJ on December 20, BTS' "Butter" obtained the certification in the download section.

Aside from that, BTS also achieved Platinum and Gold certification in the download section of "Dynamite" and "Permission to Dance" in February and September.

RIAJ classifies the song into certification according to the cumulative number of downloads of songs. The song gets a Gold certification if it is downloaded over 100,000 times, Platinum if it hits over 250,000 times, and Millions if it exceeds 1 million downloads.

Each month, the RIAJ certifies the songs and announces the list of certified works on their official website.

Last July, BTS received the Platinum certification in the Record category with their single CD "Butter." The single exceeded 250,000 copies in cumulative shipment.

Meanwhile, the group also received a "Million" certification with their Japanese best album "BTS, The Best," which exceeded 1 million copies.

Furthermore, ''Permission to Dance" and "DNA" both have accumulated over 100 million playbacks side by side and have acquired the Recording Industry Association of Japan's certification.

BTS Gets Nomination at The BRIT Awards

The Bangtan Boys got a nomination for the BRIT Awards, UK's most prestigious music awards ceremony. This is the second year that septet gets to be a nominee in the awards ceremony.

On December 19, the official website of the BRIT Awards announced that BTS was selected as a candidate for the "International Group of the Year" category. The group was nominated alongside other international artists ABBA and Silk Sonic.

Last year, BTS was the first Korean singer to get nominated.

BRIT Awards is an awards ceremony organized by the British Record Industry Association. It will be held at the O2 Arena in London, England on February 8 next year.

BTS has received a lot of awards this year and reached multiple milestones. Moreover, they are the first K-pop group to successfully hold a face-to-face concert in the US after the COVID-19 pandemic took over the world.
