NCT's "Universe" was the best-selling K-pop album in the past week and so it took first place on different weekly album charts including Gaon and Hanteo.
NCT's 'Universe' Ranks No. 1 on Numerous Weekly Album Charts including Gaon and Hanteo
On Dec. 23, Gaon released the rankings for the week of Dec. 12 to 18, including the album chart. On the tally, NCT's "Universe" secured the top spot. It is one of the newly released albums to debut on the weekly album chart.
"Universe" also entered at No. 1 on Gaon's retail album chart. According to Gaon's data analysis, the album sold a total of 872,985 copies from the day of its release, Dec. 14, until Dec. 18. The highest sales were recorded on Dec. 14, when more than 756,000 copies were sold. Notably, NCT's third album is the only work to sell hundreds of thousands in the past week.

NCT's "Universe" also topped Hanteo's weekly album chart for the third week of December (Dec. 13 to 19). According to Hanteo, the album sold 833,327 total copies during the last week.
Since its release on Dec. 14, "Universe" placed first on Hanteo's daily album charts until Dec. 22. This only shows how much the album is in demand not only in South Korea but also in other countries across the globe.
Moreover, NCT's third album broke the group's first-week sales record on the first day alone. "Universe" sold over 635,000 copies on Dec. 14, surpassing the record of 644,711 copies sold by "NCT RESONANCE Pt. 1" in the first seven days. The album went on to sell more than 930,000 copies in the first week.

Apart from Gaon and Hanteo, NCT's "Universe" also swept the No. 1 spot on other album charts such as Synnara, HOTTRACKS, YES24 and Aladin.
Following its release, "Universe" ranked first on iTunes Album charts in 30 countries around the world. It also grabbed the top spot of China's QQ Music Digital Album Sales Chart and Japan's Line Music Top 100.
"Universe" includes double title songs namely "Universe (Let's Play Ball)" and "Beautiful" along with 11 other songs.

NCT Members to Participate in 'SMTOWN: SMCU Express' Album
In other news, some NCT members will collaborate with other SM artists to sing songs that will be included in the SMTOWN 2021 winter compilation album, titled "SMTOWN: SMCU Express."
In particular, NCT Taeil will team up with Super Junior Kyuhyun and SHINee Onew to sing the ballad song "Ordinary Day," while NCT members Taeyong, Hendery, Jeno and Yangyang will join forces with aespa Giselle to sing the hip-hop track "Zoo."

Moreover, NCT members Chenle, Haechan and Jisung will work with Red Velvet Yeri and aespa NingNing to sing the 2021 remake of "Snow Dream," which was initially released as an SMTOWN winter song in 2006.
Aside from these collab songs, "SMTOWN: SMCU Express" will also feature the double title tracks "Light (Hope from KWANGYA)" sung by all SM artists and aespa's "Dreams Come True." It will also include a brand new song by TVXQ and Girls' Generation Oh!GG.
