SM Entertainment's new female unit Girls on Top (GOT) continues to attract attention after clues it will follow a rotational system. Just like NCT U, GOT will be a theme-based group, combined with SuperM's concept wherein members will be gathered from girl groups under SM.
On December 27, further details about the concept and lineup of Girls on Top (GOT) were revealed. Apart from the initial impression that it is like a SuperM female counterpart, K-pop fans think it will also be similar to NCT U.

Rather than a permanent group, the project aims to introduce a varying lineup of units by theme, comprised of female artists from SM. In this case, it is expected that more units comprised of different members will be launched as the project progresses.
In the details provided, the first unit is GOT The Beat, which consists of the aforementioned seven female idols, a group that represents all generations of K-pop.
GOT The Beat will debut with a special performance of its new song at the world's free online concert "SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMC EXPRESS@KWANGYA" from 1 p.m. KST on January 1st next year.
On January 3, its new song will be released through various music sites at 6 p.m. KST.
Girls On Top Attracts Attention for Similarities with SuperM and NCT U Concepts - Is GOT a Hybrid Group?
Amid anticipation for the new unit, there is increasing attention following details about GOT's concept.
In particular, the project girl group will not be the first group under SM to have a rotational system. To explain this concept, a group will possibly have new members each comeback, depending on the release's theme.
In the past, Super Junior and NCT Dream tried this system but eventually became a fixed unit/group. Among them, NCT U is the only group that successfully filled the concept since its debut.
As a result, there are mixed opinions on whether GOT and its units will also enjoy success or become a failure.
In addition to this, some fans conveyed GOT is a SuperM female counterpart, given that is comprised of members from SM groups that already debuted.
Others, meanwhile, are skeptical if the rotational system will happen again, as looking at SuperM's experience, the group was put into hiatus due to members' different schedules despite popularity.
