B.I to Give Solo Performance at the Digital Concert Series 'GRAMMYs Global Spin'
On Dec. 29, several local media outlets reported that B.I will make a solo appearance on the upcoming digital concert series called "GRAMMYs Global Spin," which is set to air in January 2022.
Since last year, GRAMMY has launched multiple projects to include diverse music from all parts of the world. They also changed the name of the "Best World Music Album" award to "Best Global Music Album" to transition to its new image.

One of these projects is the "GRAMMYs Global Spin", which is a concert series held to promote a variety of notable global music. The segment started in September of 2020 and featured numerous performances from different artists.
At the 2021 edition of the concert series, B.I. will be the first K-pop artist, and also the first Asian act, to perform. Reportedly, the male soloist has arranged the selected songs he will perform and filmed the live stage of the final arrangement.
B.I's solo performance at the "GRAMMYs Global Spin" will be unveiled on GRAMMY's official website and social media on Jan. 4, 2022 at 10 a.m. PST / 1 p.m. EST.

This year, B.I made two solo comebacks with new albums. First, he released his first full album, titled "WATERFALL", after seven years of debut. Out of the 12 songs from the album, "illa illa" serves as the title track.
B.I wrote the lyrics and co-composed "illa illa" with MILLENIUM, SIHWANG, Kang Uk Jin, and Diggy. According to the idol, the track tells his story and is the first work he made "after being left alone in the world."

On the first day of release (June 1), B.I's "WATERFALL" sold 30,888 copies. This is already his highest first-week sales. In the first seven days, the album sold a total of 66,132 copies.
On June 2, IOK Company announced that "WATERFALL" had ranked first on iTunes Album charts in 20 countries as of that day, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Russia, and Turkey.
B.I's album also entered the Top 10 of iTunes Album chart in the United States. In China, it placed No. 1 on QQ Music's Best Selling Daily Albums chart.
At the same time, the title track "illa illa" topped iTunes Songs charts in 17 countries including Thailand, the Philippines, and Brazil. In South Korea, B.I's "illa illa" along with the other 11 songs from the album charted on MelOn's Recent 24Hits.

On Nov. 11, B.I returned with another album, a half album called "COSMOS." This work asks about an eternal love that does not fade and always keeps a person going and dreaming. The album consists of seven tracks including the title song of the same name. B.I wrote the lyrics for "COSMOS" and co-composed it alongside MILLENIUM and SIHWANG.
In the first week of release, B.I's "COSMOS" sold a total of 35,057 copies.
