On Dec. 30, the Korean Business Research Institute has released the brand reputation rankings for all Korean stars for December. This list which celebrities are the most popular this month.
The rankings are based on the results obtained after an analysis of the big data accumulated from Nov. 30 to Dec. 30 which include the stars' indexes in four points: consumer participation, media coverage, community awareness and interaction
BTS Remains the Second Most Popular Korean Star, According to the December Star Brand Reputation Rankings
Sitting at No. 2 on the list is the renowned seven-member boy group BTS. The "Butter" singers got a brand reputation index of 10,139,254. This means the septet is the most popular Korean idol group in December.
Naturally, BTS also ranked first on the previously released boy group brand reputation rankings for December.

RM, Jungkook, Jimin, V, Suga, Jin, and J-Hope are currently on a vacation to spend time with their families for the first time since their debut. Their break comes after their successful concert in Los Angeles and participation in iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball tour.
BLACKPINK is the Fourth Most Popular Korean Star, Based on the December Star Brand Reputation Rankings
BLACKPINK is another idol group inside the Top 5 of this month's star brand reputation rankings. The quartet took No. 4 with a total score of 6,485,055.
Even though BLACKPINK didn't release a new group song in the past weeks and the members were carrying out their individual activities, they were the most-talked about girl group in the Korean industry in December.

In particular, BLACKPINK Jisoo has officially made her debut as an actress in JTBC's new drama "Snowdrop," which also stars Jung Hae In.
IU, Girls' Generation, Kang Daniel and IVE are among the Most Popular Korean Stars in December
Inside the Top 10 of the star brand reputation rankings for December, only one female solo singer is included and it is none other than the "Nation's Sister" IU.
On Dec. 29, IU dropped her last 2021 music release, which is a special album titled "Pieces." According to IU, this album is a collection of "The pieces of IU that were never seen before."
IU's "Pieces" comprises five new songs including the pre-release tracks "Next Stop." As of 3 p.m. KST on Dec. 30, the album ranked first on Apple Music in seven countries including China, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and more.

Following IU on the list is Girls' Generation at No. 8. The girl group's sub-unit Girls' Generation - Oh!GG was previously announced to take part in SM Entertainment's upcoming SMTOWN 2022: SMCU EXPRESS project. It will be the first time in four years that the sub-unit will release a new song.
Meanwhile, Kang Daniel and IVE ranked No. 9 and No. 10 on the list, respectively. Kang didn't have a solo comeback this December but he is active in TV shows, particularly on Mnet's "Street Dance Girls Fighter" as the host.
IVE, Starship Entertainment's rising rookie girl group, made their highly-anticipated debut on Dec. 1 with their first single album "ELEVEN," which features the title track of the same name and one B-side song.
