BTS Jin Lands 2 Songs inside the Top 10 of This Week's Billboard Hot Trending Songs Chart, the First K-pop Soloist to Do So

On Dec. 30, Billboard unveiled its weekly Hot Trending Songs chart (powered by Twitter) for the week ending on Jan. 1, 2022. Music releases from Korean artists dominated the list like in the previous rankings.

On the list, two songs were released by the same male soloist, which is none other than BTS' "Worldwide Handsome" Jin. His solo OST "Yours" and self-composed track "Super Tuna" took Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.

In the past week, BTS Jin's "Yours" was at No. 20 while "Super Tuna" ranked No. 14. Considering the songs' latest rankings on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart, it only shows that these two tracks received more love this week.

While Jin is not the first K-pop soloist to land two songs on the Hot Trending Songs chart, he has become the only Korean solo artist and the only one this week to chart two songs within the Top 10 of the said Billboard chart.

The only other K-pop soloist to enter two tracks on the tally at the same time is BLACKPINK Lisa with her debut solo songs, "LALISA" and "MONEY."

Released on Nov. 7, "Yours" is BTS Jin's first solo OST. It serves as the soundtrack for the tvN drama "Jirisan." This track is the first 2021 song by a soloist to hit 100 No. 1s on iTunes Song chart.

Meanwhile, "Super Tuna" is Jin's surprise gift for fans on his birthday, Dec. 4. The BTS member co-produced the track with BUMZU. Unlike his group's pop songs, "Super Tuna" is a trot song, a genre of Korean pop music known for its distinctive singing style with vocal inflections that was particularly famous during the 1960s and 70s.

"Super Tuna" becomes the first song by a K-pop soloist to be the No. 1 most popular YouTube music video in the world for 16 days.

Congratulations to BTS Jin on his impressive Billboard milestone!
