On January 3, Kep1er took to their social media channels to announce the groups' fandom name and official colors. Kep1er's fandom name was officially named Kep1ian, pronounced as Kep-lian. Additionally, the official colors of Kep1er are lavender and white, while the official colors of Kep1ians are lavender and yellow.

While supporters of the girl group were happy at the reveal, supporters of a K-pop soloist were not as thrilled.

On August 13, 2018, Jeong Sewoon announced his official fandom colors on his respective social media channels. His official colors are Pantone 531, a light shade of magenta similar to lavender, and Pantone 134, which is similar to a yellow-mustard color. His third official color is white silver sparkles.

Jeong Sewoon's official colors all have special meanings. First, he selected Pantone 531 to represent his birthday, May 31. He also chose the color due to its similarity to his birth flower, the scilla. Next, he selected Pantone 134 to represent happiness and luck. Finally, the white silver sparkle was chosen to represent the shining moments between Jeong Sewoon and his fans.

Kep1er's Fandom Colors Garners Divided Opinions Due to Similarity With Jeong Sewoon's Official Colors

As Jeong Sewoon debuted nearly four years before Kep1er did — and announced his official fandom colors almost three years before Kep1er debut — Haengwoons (Jeong Sewoon's fanbase) are upset over how similar the colors are. Many are demanding that Kep1er's company should have done their due diligence and checked if any other artist had similar colors before announcing Kep1er's.

One user wrote, "You should think about how we feel. We are pissed off."

However, internet users are divided over the situation. Some have pointed out that idols can choose colors are limited, so they should not compete for colors. Others wondered why official colors existed in the first place and pondered over why official colors were still important these days.

Others, however, understood the position of Haengwoons. They stated that official colors were representative of the group, and artists having similar colors could be confusing. Many said that to avoid conflict, Kep1er should change their fandom colors. Meanwhile, others pointed out that this has always been a big issue in K-pop since the early 2000s.
