HYBE Draws Criticism for High Prices of BTS' 'Artist-Made Collection' Merchandise
Back on January 2, BTS and their label HYBE kick-started the new year by giving BTS fans - ARMY - a new set of the group's merchandise called "Artist-Made Collection," which currently features pajamas and pillows curated by the BTS members themselves.
The first set of products rolled out in the "Artist-Made Collection" was a nighttime collection made by BTS' oldest member, Jin.
According to Jin, he had designed two different sets of pajamas, as well as a pillow for those who have neck strains and issues.
The pajama sets are called "Good Day Pajama," which is of the blue color, and the "Bad Day Pajama," which is in black.

While many fans are excited to have new merchandise from the seven-member boy group, many also expressed their displeasure, specifically, due to the pricing of the "Artist-Made Collection."
Based on Weverse Shop, where the collection will be made available for purchase, both the pajama sets have a hundred dollar price tag, with the "Good Day Pajama" and "Bad Day Pajama" priced at 119,000 won ($110.55 USD) each.
The pillow, however, will be sold at the price of 69,000 won ($64.10 USD).
Following the reveal of the merchandise, numerous fans took to their social media and online community platforms to criticize the "Big 4" label for the collection's high pricing, with many pointing out that similar pajama sets usually range from $10 USD to $20 USD in the market.
BTS Jin Responds to Pricing Issue of 'Artist-Made Collection'
With the outpouring of criticism for its prices, Jin himself had personally responded to the issue through the global fan community platform, Weverse.
On Weverse, Jin shared his thoughts regarding the collection's pricing, and is seemingly shocked as well with how high it is. "Although I did ask them to use good material for the pajamas, the price is just... I was surprised as well," Jin said.

With the issue not dying down anytime soon, numerous fans have also called on HYBE to revise the collection's prices, as they worry that the upcoming collection made by the remaining BTS members will be similar and high as well.
Some comments criticizing the label include, "The prices are just ridiculous! I can almost by a BTS concert ticket with that money!," "Don't rip us off like this! Seriously, make them more affordable," and the like.
Meanwhile, the collection will begin its sale on January 17 KST.
