STAYC Becomes One of The Artists to Watch Out For in 2022
STAYC joins the five notable artists picked by Apple Music and Shazam to pay attention to for this year. Moreover, the girl group is the only Korean act that was included in the list.
On January 5, their agency, HIGH UP Entertainment, made the announcement on STAYC's official Twitter account that the group was selected as one of the five artists to watch out for in 2022. The selection was made by Apple Music, a worldwide music platform, and Shazam, a music discovery app.
The reason that STAYC was selected was that their title song "ASAP," from the second single "STAYDOM" released by StayC in April 2021, maintained the top spot on the Shazam chart in Korea since its release.
Aside from StayC, the other artists to watch out for in 2022 are, Nigerian female singer-songwriter Ayra Starr, British up-and-coming newcomer Sad Night Dynamite, and Mexican-American singer Danny Lux.
STAYC Colorfully Welcomed the New Year with Spectacular Performance
Stay C gave a colorful performance during the "2021 MBC Gayo Daejejeon" and "2021 SBS Drama Awards" which aired on December 31.
First, in '2021 MBC Gayo Daejejeon', STAY showed off a refreshing charm with a mashup of their songs "ASAP" and "STEREOTYPE." They captivated the public with their festive styling, splendid performances, and songs. In particular, the highly addictive "Kukkukki Dance," "Athing Dance," and Sumin's energetic dance break stood out.
Then, STAYC performed a collaboration stage with Celeb Five on "How to Eat Well and Live Well." Sieun said, "We prepared a stage with Celeb Five with the desire to become a celebrity. With a retro concept, the stage was decorated so that all generations could sympathize with the emotions of that time." After that, Stay C, who appeared in retro styling, showed off a different charm by presenting perfect harmony with Celeb Five.
In addition, Seeun, Yoon, and Jay covered Girls' Generation's Tae Ti-seo's "Twinkle" during the second part of "Gayo Daejejeon." They caught the eye of the audience with their gorgeous gold-colored styling, and reinterpreted it as STAYC's own version of the song with their unique teen-fresh charm.
