DSP Media Releases Statement After APRIL Naeun's School Bullying Accuser Admits to Fabricating Accusations
On January 7, KST, APRIL's label DSP Media issued a statement related to group member Naeun's controversy regarding her allegedly being a perpetrator of school violence.
The accuser (hereafter referred to as "A") had raised speculation that Naeun was a school bully during their elementary school days. DSP Media and Naeun have continuously denied these claims.
After almost a year after the accusations started, "A" was revealed to have submitted a letter of apology, where they admitted to having fabricated the accusations.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: April Claim They are Actually the Victims, Not Perpetrators + Deny Bullying Allegations
"The contents of the article I wrote to be true are all false, and there are no victims including myself. Lee Naeun is not a perpetrator of school violence. Compared to me, who was quiet and had no presence, Naeun was young and got along well with her friends and was always bright and active. I made a big mistake," "A" said.
"A" continued, "I am well aware that my mistakes do not go away just because I have been kind. Because of this incident, I realized again that even a small lie can do a lot of damage. I am sorry."
DSP Media also announced that as a result of "A"'s letter of apology, they will be dropping the defamation charges made against them.

"Hello, this is DSP Media.
We would like to inform you our statement regarding the school bullying investigations and results involving our artist, Lee Naeun.
In March 2021, an online community post claimed that Lee Naeun took part in bullying back in her elementary school days.
However, this is a false rumor, and DSP Media proceeded to file a lawsuit against the initial accuser 'A' for defamation of [Naeun's] character.
DSP Media collected sufficient evidence and submitted it to the investigators in order to prove that the contents of the community post were false. After several months of investigation, the police have declared that 'A' was guilty of defamation of character by spreading false rumors, and was forwarded to the prosecution for indictment.
'A,' who had contacted DSP Media with the intention to apologize to Lee Naeun after reflecting on their actions, has delivered a handwritten apology letter [as shown below].
As a result, Lee Naeun has decided to accept their apology and will be dropping the defamation charges made against the accuser.
We are happy to deliver this news to fans who have waited a long time with their unchanging support.
We emphasize once again that we will respond without leniency to any and all activity which involve the creating and spreading of rumors and false information.
Thank you."
