Former DIA Member Somyi Causes Mixed Reactions Among Fans After Debuting as a BJ

Back on January 9, PocketDol Studio (MBK Entertainment) surprised fans by announcing that DIA member Somyi had terminated her exclusive contract with the label and parted ways with the group. According to PocketDol Studio, Somyi left due to health reasons.

Following Somyi's departure, she surprised fans once again after making her debut as a BJ under the name "Chomyi" for the 19+ adult content platform, PandaTV.

A BJ, or broadcast jockey, is a term widely used in South Korea referring to streamers.

However, while many have shown their support for the former idol, many have also expressed their disappointment with Somyi's decision to produce 19+ content.

In particular, a netizen who claims to be Somyi's fan shared that she had attended several DIA fan meetings and collected Somyi's photo cards. But Somyi's debut as a BJ on PandaTV has deeply disappointed them.

According to the fan, they were worried about Somyi getting hurt when people would call her ugly on V LIVE, but now she is "smiling and laughing at the oppas with revealing clothes on."

They then expressed their frustration that Somyi would do the "Zero Two" dance for just 30,000 won (around $25 USD), and wondered why they bothered going to showcases and fansign events, feeling like they "wasted time and money."

"I bought her photo card for 20,000 won and to think that I was carrying around a photo card of a PandaTV BJ during my innocent high school years," said the fan.

The fan then pleaded Somyi to instead get a certificate in computer application or to prepare for an exam for public workers, or to attend college even if it takes them four or five times.

"I am so embarrassed that I was an avid fan of someone doing BJ for adult content," they said.

The post that was shared on the online community platform TheQoo had gathered more than 98,000 views in less than a day, with many netizens leaving comments to share their thoughts as well, and showing a divide in opinions.

Some have stated that Somyi should be allowed to do whatever she wants as it's her life, however, many others stated that it is unfair to her fans who have supported her throughout her DIA days.
