TVXQ Changmin Shares His Honest Thoughts on Becoming an SM Director

On Jan. 17, TVXQ member Changmin guested on Kim Shin Young's radio program at MBC FM4U, called "Noon Song of Hope." The male idol just returned to the music scene with his second mini-album and appearing on radio and music shows is part of his comeback promotions.

At one point during the radio show, Kim Shin Young asked Max Changmin about becoming the director of SM Entertainment.

Previously, Girls' Generation Hyoyeon appeared on "Noon Song of Hope" and named TVXQ Changmin as one of the SM artists who she thinks is a candidate to be the next SM Director.

Kim Shin Young said to Changmin, "You said it's a bit disappointing to retire in the industry just as an SM artist. Do you have the desire to be an SM director? I didn't realize you weren't a director in your company."

TVXQ member Changmin responded that whenever people expect something like that from him, he feels like he has not lived his life to the fullest. He added that he regrets not doing more to meet people's expectations. He concluded that he is only an SM artist to this date.

Kim Shin Young then changed the topic to KWANGYA, saying that she is confused about what it is.

Max Changmin said that it's also the same for them. He shared that Super Junior Kyuhyun called him and asked what KWANGYA is, and in response, he said that he doesn't know about it either," making Kim Shin Young burst into laughter.

The TVXQ member continued that he told Kyuhyun that they have to go there (KWANGYA) if Lee Soo Man goes there. "No matter what we think, if he says we are in Kwangya, then we're in Kwangya. I bet anyone who is the boss would understand," Changmin stated.

TVXQ Changmin Makes First Solo Comeback in Two Years with "Devil"

In other news, TVXQ member Changmin made his long-awaited solo comeback on Jan. 13 with his second mini-album "Devil," which features six songs including the titular title song.

On Jan. 14 as of 10:30 a.m. KST, "Devil" rose to No. 1 on iTunes Album charts in at least 14 different countries including Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Colombia, Turkey and more. It even peaked at No. 8 on the European iTunes Album Chart and debuted at No. 3 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart.

Regarding album sales, Max Changmin's "Devil" sold a total of 10,189 copies on the first day. And, as of Jan. 16, a total of 10,785 copies have been sold.

Meanwhile, the number of views for Changmin's "Devil" music video hit 1.5 million in just six hours after release and eventually surpassed three million views in the first 24 hours. It went on to reach five million views in just two days.
